You have no idea what you are talking about; neither Bakhmut nor Maripul had anything to do with rapid breakthroughs or mechanized warfare. Those were both long, drawn-out struggles that came down to infantry warfare in a localized setting...not even close to maneuver warfare in wide open spaces.
Try again Ivan.
How long did it take Russia to take Bakhmut?

How long did it take Russia to take Bakhmut?
Let me help you out with that answer: It took a year, and it took the best unit (Wagner) in the Russian order of battle at the time to accomplish that.
Bolding added by me.
quote:
While the shelling of Bakhmut began in May 2022, and the battle being considered to have begun in early July with Russian offensives on the distant approaches to the city,[13][14][15] the main assault towards the city itself started after Russian forces advanced from the direction of Popasna following a Ukrainian withdrawal from that front.[16] The main assault force consisted primarily of mercenaries from the Russian paramilitary organization Wagner Group, supported by regular Russian troops and reportedly Donetsk People's Republic militia elements.[5][17][4]
In late 2022, following Ukraine's Kharkiv and Kherson counteroffensives, the Bakhmut–Soledar front became an important focus of the war, being one of the few front lines where Russia remained on the offensive.[18] Attacks on the city intensified in November 2022, as assaulting Russian forces were reinforced by units redeployed from the Kherson front, together with newly mobilized recruits.[19][20] By this time, much of the front line had descended into positional trench warfare, with both sides suffering high casualties without any significant advances.[21] By using repeated assaults composed of former convicts, Wagner troops were able to gradually gain ground[22][23] and by February 2023, they captured territory in the north and south of Bakhmut and threatened encirclement. Ukrainian forces began slowly withdrawing deeper into the city[24][25] and the battle turned into fierce urban warfare.[24] By March 2023, Russian forces captured the eastern half of the city, up to the Bakhmutka river.[26][27]
By 20 May 2023, Bakhmut had been mostly captured by Russian forces,[28][29][30] with the Ukrainian military claiming control of a small strip of the city proper along the T0504 highway.[31][32][33] Nonetheless, Ukraine started counterattacks on Russia's flanks, seeking to encircle the city.[34] Around the same time on 25 May, Wagner began withdrawing from the city to be replaced by regular Russian troops,[35] amidst heavy internal squabbles between Wagner leadership and Russian high command.[36][37] In September 2023, President Zelensky said Ukraine would continue to fight to retake Bakhmut.[38]

How long did it take Russia to take Mariupol?
Almost exactly 3 months.

The siege of Mariupol began on 24 February 2022 and lasted until 20 May,
Almost exactly 3 months.

I think 800K for Rusdia and 700 K casaualtues for Ukrsine after three years of heavy fighting is reasonable. You?
I'm skeptical.
NYT reports that there are more than 400k Russians and 250k Ukrainians on the front. So I don't know what my guess would be off the top of my head, but do know that I don't think 2x the number of Russians currently fighting have died and almost 3x the current number of Ukrainians

There is no Positive News for Ukraine right now. You see Ukraine is collapsing on the Eastern Front and that's why you NAFO trolls are begging for Negotiations.
NAFO Trolls: "Trump said 1 million Russian Soldiers have died...Bro we need Negotiations right now, Russia is collapsing
If Russia lost 1 million soldiers. Trump would not be begging Putin to come to the Negotiating table. We would be planning on taking Crimea. You NAFO Fellas are not that smart

This is where we are. It doesn’t matter that Russia now owns 25% of Ukrainian land. It’s that it took longer than expected for them to capture certain areas, so that’s a win for Ukraine bros

I guess you are too intellectually crippled to understand the context of the comments in the conversation we are having about Russia's ability to exploit any breakthroughs.
Read the thread before you comment and make yourself look stupid.

You still haven't explained why the war would be over if Russia had 1M casualties...waiting.

Correct. Now Russia is almost finished capturing Pokrovsk.

I was making the point that this was The main logistics hub in southern Donetsk and the last fortification for the Ukrainian Army. After the city, it is flat terrain to the Dnieper river withouy any obstacles.

You keep repeating this like it is some written-in-stone truth. Yet you refuse to explain why that is so.

Because Ukraine or Russia could not lose those manpower numbers and continue to make progress like Russia is making on the Eastern Front. And if Ukraine lost those numbers they would of already collapsed by now.
