He was a great president.

He handled the collapse of the Soviet Union with extreme delicacy, and avoided what could have been serious problems. And his team was overall just incredibly competent. They had a clear sense of what Americas interests were, and they were very hard nosed about it.

You are correct. When I tried to enlist, the military doctors said that my medical issues meant that my body was unfit to serve.

But my dad was an F-4 Phantom pilot (like McCain) who did two tours in Vietnam in the course of a 20-year Navy career, and my brother joined the Marines and served 8 years. I certainly know what it's like for a kid to not have his dad around for six months at a time, because he's on a ship in the Indian Ocean.

Of course. And those people would obviously not be the part of the new "woke" wing of the Right. You misunderstood my post.

The 134 dead sailors of the USS Forrestal beg to differ.

Your hero is McCain who sided with Barack Hussein Obama. You’re not a conservative no matter how much you claim to be.

Thanks to Trump, JD Vance and DeSantis your outdated neocon ideology will never make a comeback. It’s dead and you should take notice.

Ah, so you are repeating a nasty leftist smear of McCain. What a garbage person you are.

Not at all. I worked very hard for Fred Thompson in the 2008 primaries. McCain would probably have been my last choice in that contest. That said, I certainly would have never slandered his military service.

HW’s strong suit was foreign policy. What hurt him was he broke his pledge and raised taxes.

LINK French allow Ukraine to use Scalp missiles

From BBC

Jean-Noël Barrot said that Ukraine could fire French long-range missiles into Russia "in the logics of self defence", but would not confirm if French weapons had already been used.

Lindsay Graham seems to have a different focus now than he's had in the past.

I thought George H. W. Bush was actually a good President

He’s the last person that was actually qualified to be president and not just a shyster or nepo baby.

Ross Perot really goofed on that one. Bush wins in 92, there is no bill presidency and looming Hillary, the gop probably wins in 96 on back of great economy, the losses in 2000 and 9/11 and its aftermath bury the democrats for a generation.

Instead, we get 12 years of Trump and a complete reshaping of how American politicians walk, talk, and act.

Listen to this 7-minute masterpiece from Sen. Mike Rounds yesterday on why we need to give even more military help to Ukraine.

A personal friend from Houma, Hal, flew with McCain. Hal was rebellious and enrolled in NROTC to piss off his dad, an Army Brig General. As a Marine pilot he was transitioned to the USN and flew in the same squadron as McCain. McCain was loathed by all of his fellow aviators and the support crews as a backstabber sub standard fighter pilot, per Hal. He wouldn't have been shot down but for worse than a rookie mistake. If memory serves me correctly it was the Oriskany where McCain blamed everyone else for his phuckup

I asked Hal about whether or not McCain betrayed his fellow captives back during the 2000 primaries. This was the only time he talked about McCain, stating that everyone has a threshold where they are breakable. What method works depending on the person so that was a non issue for him that is when he unloaded on McCain being a POS and why he would never vote for him for dog catcher. Hal never voted Dem and passed away before the 2008 election.

On a side note, Hal transitioned to the CIA in SE Asia. Per him it was nothing but a clusterfark organization run by well educated idiots who couldn't organize a one person parade. He trusted a few hundred bucks to a mamasan in a brothel to hide out for several days rather than any CIA safehouse.

Another reason why the CIA organizing any color revolution would be laughable to him.
