Russian military command is reportedly continuing to commit military specialists to assault operations and incurring unnecessary losses, likely in an effort to centralize control over Russian forces and maintain the tempo of Russian offensive operations throughout the theater.

Incredibly stupid... but I hope they keep it up.

Ukraine has a bit of the same problem because a lot of their career military administration types were trained by the Soviets and every able body is an infantryman sent to the front, regardless of whether they could be better used elsewhere or have specialized skills and training or they're not in the right condition... but they're trying to correct that, I think

Really interesting WSJ video story following one of Ukraine's most successful drone pilots.

Katherine Frick article

CNN journalist based in Europe

Christian Segura

Stanislav Asseyev...Ukrainian journalist

I don't know how many troops have to desert before it becomes a major issue but denying it's happening is sticking your head in the sand.

And for good measure...

A New York Times article about Russian deserters

Sending billions of dollars over to a war that is a lost cause while the people of N Carolina who have lost everything sleep in tents and/or in their cars as they are abandoned by their government.

Funding the IDF while the people of N Carolina who have lost everything sleep in tents and/or in their cars as they are abandoned by their government.

Illegal aliens put up in hotels and given thousands of dollars in welfare benefits while the people of N Carolina who have lost everything sleep in tents and/or in their cars as they are abandoned by their government.

This administration should burn in hell.

They and their supporters are evil and demonic.

Christian Segura is the most credible author based on looking at other articles linked.

So why did you link an article from a Nigerian woman to begin with.

The change in percentage is what's alarming

The US has been captured by special interests, and those include foreign nations.

There is no question that large numbers of desertions is not good and it is especially bad for Ukraine who has a shortage of manpower.

But you also have to give both sides of the equation. 50,000 deserted? How many have served? A million or more?

Then go research desertion rates in other wars and compare them to this one. There are always desertions.

Russians are deserting as well.
There is a reason Russia has emptied prisons and is using NK. troops. They have a manpower shortage as well.

They’ll throw in a couple Big Macs with the signing bonus and fill their quota. Russians are stupid poor in most places and keep taking the bait.

So you are in NC, working full time to help the people there? Thanks for your service. I assume that your posts here are simply during the small breaks you take to rest.

When I plugged in "Ukraine had 9,000 deserters" into the search engine that was the first article that popped up...I didn't look at the author. Those others I posted...were the next 4. Easy enough to find.

Of course not. AU dude is saying that NC is of such critical importance that the federal government cannot do anything until it rectifies the situation. No USPS mail should be delivered, national parks should close, etc. If the situation is so critical as to prevent Uncle Sam from walking and chewing gum at the same time, then I'm sure he wouldn't be doing anything except volunteering full time.

It’s immoral to place foreign citizens ahead of your own people. It’s a fundamental betrayal

The progress made in rebuilding roads, bridges, power is quite astonishing. US Army portable potable water plants have been moved into urban areas.

Just because it is written in some news report, doesn't make it reality. If that is the case, Trump is Hitler and Stalin all rolled into one reincarnation. Also, 10's of thousands of bodies are hanging in trees in NC because someone said so, and people are being forcibly removed because of lithium (where lithium has been mined for eons already)

I, for one, thank you for linking a source even if the material is bad for Ukraine. Super annoying when someone doesn't link sources or just screenshot something

ISW Update Oct 27th 2024

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Russia's economy and war effort is coming under increasing strain, which will pose increasingly acute challenges to Russian President Vladimir Putin's ability to sustain the war over the long term.

Ukrainian and Russian forces both advanced within the main Ukrainian salient in Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces advanced in and near Selydove and northwest of Vuhledar.

Russian authorities are using Cossack organizations to militarize Russian children and build out Russia's force generation reserve in the long term.
