Ukraine was attempting to join the EU. To join, it was going to have to clean up a lot of Russian corruption, which would have been bad for Russia.

So you're saying nobody has joined NATO since then?
You can blame Russia for Finland and Sweden joining NATO.
The Maidan massacre happened because the president ran on joining the EU, legislature voted to join the EU then the president pulled the application at the last minute. The public protested because of that. Only the slow learners on the Politard Board cannot see that. Public kept protesting even though the president brought in snipers and shot many. The president fled to his Sugar Daddy, Putin instead of facing his disaster.

Sure you pro Russian people believe the US made Russia attack, but that notion doesn’t hold water. Russia wasn’t forced into anything.
I wouldn't care what happened to russia if the whole thing rotted into the ground beyond what that would mean for the rest of us.
Kinda like right now. You people are bloodthirsty for no reason. If you'd quit stopping attempts to do a cease fire I might take you serious that you don't actually just want war no matter what as long as it's not YOU dying.

Yes you can blame Russia for anything you like if you intend to.

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 then a larger scale invasion in 2022.
When did Ukraine invade Russia? When did anyone invade Russia?

Isw update Sept 20
quote:
Key Takeaways:
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced two new loan mechanisms worth up to 45 billion euros (roughly $50 billion) and 35 billion euros (roughly $39 billion) respectively during a visit to Kyiv on September 20.
Russian authorities were reportedly aware of the threat of a future Ukrainian incursion into Kursk Oblast in the months leading up to August 2024 but failed to take adequate steps to address such a threat.
These documents support ISW's recent assessment that Ukrainian forces achieved operational surprise during the incursion into Kursk Oblast despite Russian authorities' reported awareness of the possibility of an incursion.
Russian officials attempted to use a meeting with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to legitimize Russia's occupation of Ukraine and promote false narratives about alleged Ukrainian human rights abuses.
Russian forces recently advanced near Vovchansk, Kreminna, Toretsk, and Pokrovsk, and Ukrainian forces recently regained lost positions in Vovchansk and Siversk.
Russian state media is increasingly emphasizing the participation of foreign nationals in the Russian war effort in Ukraine, likely to reassure domestic audiences that Russia continues to recruit sufficient manpower and will not need to declare another mobilization wave.

There was no universe where Crimea wasn't Russian. That was an attempt at humiliation. The response was predictable by anyone with a higher than toddler level of logical cognition and a local newspaper in Odessa.

Actually in this universe the USSR transferred Crimea to Ukraine in 1954.
No, it wasn’t because of NATO, the CIA, or Obama. It was a Soviet Union thing.

Russia recruits foreigners, Russia gets foreign missiles and ammo; but any time the west helps Ukraine Russia cries foul and accuses the west of escalating things.

During the vote to separate from the USSR, Crimea voted to leave, and it wasn't even close. Go play with the other ignorant politards

Seems kinda relevant considering we lied and did it anyway.
The US actually held up application to join NATO for each of the former Warsaw Pact nations for several years. Keep buying what the nutbags are telling you after they get their talking points from the Kremlin. Russia never once voiced opposition of these applicants as being a threat to Russia.
There was no real want by Ukraine to join NATO until after Feb 2022.
Yes, as we've discussed 378 times in this thread, Ukraine had some vague desire to join NATO, NATO was lukewarm at best... mainly because leftover Soviet corruption still plagued Ukraine, as well as it just seeming like a trouble spot.
The real threat to Putin was the Ukraine was set on joining the EU. Your average Ukrainian in the countryside already lives much better and more modern than you average Russian out in the countryside... and those countrysides are not that far apart. So if Ukraine's economy really prospered with EU membership, that really drives home to Russian peasants that Putin and the Oligarchs are stealing the riches in the country and not sending anything their way. Bad enough that you have Estonia (the most "online" country on earth), Latvia and Lithuania prospering right on the border, but they're small and it's explained away as the West just giving them money to fake being successful to try to make Russia look bad. If Ukraine and Georgia, places Russians are used to just driving to, explode with economic success, that reveals that the Russian system is rotten... and that foments an uprising by the people on the bottom and middle. Putin's biggest fear is a color revolution taking him out.

What are they firing at Russia?
Who's doing surveillance and targeting.
Who did Maidan?
It's like "Groundhog Day." Some new Putin fan finds this thread and repeats the same crap that's been discredited 437 times in this thread already... then they stick around and still keep repeating the inaccurate crap

You apparently are so stupid that you don’t realize that no one on this board controls anything to do with anything related to this war. No one in this thread is stopping any attempts for ceasefire, no one in this thread has any say so in anything related to this war.
