Politico:
EDIT:
quote:
The U.S. is considering sending Ukraine a medium-range missile for its new F-16 fleet as part of a $375 million military aid package expected to be announced Monday.
The Joint Standoff Weapon, already used by the U.S. Air Force and Navy and a number of allies, can hit targets over 70 miles away, giving Ukraine a major upgrade to the weapons it’s using to strike Russian forces and allowing them to do it at safer distances.
quote:
The $375 million will be the largest package the U.S. has sent Ukraine since May, and could be the last presidential drawdown of equipment before the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30. Under authority granted by Congress, the U.S. pulls existing weapons from its stockpiles, and the money is meant to purchase replacement munitions and equipment.
The Pentagon is working with Congress to roll the remaining $5.8 billion left in the presidential drawdown authority over to the next fiscal year. No deal has been struck yet as lawmakers struggle to come up with a plan to avoid a government shutdown on Oct.1, which will occur if no stopgap funding measure is passed in time.
The new missiles, while not having the reach that Kyiv has been asking for, will still give Ukrainian pilots a powerful new weapon as their forces battle advancing Russian troops in the country’s east, where Ukrainian troops have been slowly losing ground.
EDIT:
quote:
The variant Ukraine receives will be critical.
JSOW-A dispenses 145 Combined Effect Bomblets for area effects against soft targets. JSOW-A-1 shares a 500 lb warhead with JDAM-ER.
JSOW-C shares the BROACH warhead with Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG for effects against hardened targets.

Weren’t you criticizing me (or at least agreeing with the guy who was) for inventing someone to argue against just a day or two ago?
The difference being I was almost immediately proven correct.
This site as a whole isn’t the poliboard

Is that supposed to be notable or at all impressive?

quote:We should all wish that it would though. The same is true of Ukrainian land force incursions into Russia. If those Ukrainian actions could help bring this avoidable atrocity to a close, it would be a wonderful thing! Don't you agree?
Toropets? It doesn’t have any impact

Basically if your military hollers Allahu Akbar you are moral in Russia's opinion. I hope that the Israelis haven't rigged farm animals to be explode when penetrated, for the sake of Russians.

So we didn't agree to not push NATO into Ukraine when the Soviet Union collapsed and everyone was shitting bricks about Nuclear proliferation so they gave all the nukes to Russia?
Seems kinda relevant considering we lied and did it anyway.

The US actually held up application to join NATO for each of the former Warsaw Pact nations for several years. Keep buying what the nutbags are telling you after they get their talking points from the Kremlin. Russia never once voiced opposition of these applicants as being a threat to Russia.
There was no real want by Ukraine to join NATO until after Feb 2022.

Interesting thread on Toropets design and construction.
NOTE:
" Not far from Toropets, there is another recently finished ammunition depot, called Kotovo, in Novgorodskaya oblast. To be brief, the construction process is the same - there is inadequate excavation, poor use of embankment to protect other ECMs, and nearly absence of roof soil, which ultimately fails to deter penetrating warheads from doing their job."
