430 km^2 in three days!?!? The midget in a suit should just give up now or risk losing more land.

Hey Trindad did I do that right? After all it was just 48 houts ago that you were bragging about Russia taking 420 km^2 in a month.

I say screw them and screw them hard if you can. Our dependency on China is dangerous. The CCP is not our friend. That party and society are evil. Anything that we can do to weaken or hurt them economically is a plus for our security. Personally I am for rebuilding the middle class in America instead of continuing to build one in China. I worry for the young people in this nation, I don't know how they are going to afford housing, etc. Costs are ridiculous for them.

The CCP is certainly not our friend... Xi is not our friend, neither is Modi... neither is Saudia Arabia when it comes down to it.

We've talked a lot here about post-War Globalism being kind of a bribe to get most of the world to chill out with the wars and invasions and also to get them to resist Communism. Nobody will say that was bad for America and its workers in the 50s and 60s. But it did start to go far too far... and especially when the U.S.S.R. dissolved, it kind of lost its purpose and just became a tool of corporate greed to screw labor more than anything.

The COVID shutdown proved that dependency on China and anyplace else that involves long shipping was a major vulnerability, though a course correction was starting to already happen... because the Chinese tend to be, frankly, shite workers because they're kind of treated as slaves... and even in the cases where people knew to make things better than that to get quality work, Xi will impulsively destroy an entire industry if something offends him (The CEO of Foxconn announced he would be running for President of Taiwan... the next day Foxconn's Chinese properties were raided and charged with any and everything that could be thought of... tax evasion, violations of every sort, corruption...).

Zeihan thinks we're about to enter "THE Golden Age of American Labor Power" as we're forced to restart stateside manufacturing for a lot of things, and it will be like the Industrial Revolution or the 1950s all over again. All of those abandoned factories located on rivers and train tracks and highways are about to be revived or rebuilt, and with them the towns around them. We will see...

Yeltsin convinced the world that Russia wanted to play nice and just join in with the West... Putin stepped in and let that impression kind of linger while having a different agenda.

The CCP was kind of waning in its commitment to Communism, which was not the main focus of Chinese life anymore by 2013... Xi "re-educated" (often, literally by sending people like Jack Ma off someplace) the population to remind them they are Communists, first and foremost.

But we're watching Russia have a fit as it shrinks on the world stage into irrelevance...

We will have to go through the same thing with China in a bit... but will India and other countries China has bullied for decades not try to settle some scores on its way out?

What's are the Ukrainian objectives in Kursk?

1. Force Russia to redeploy forces from inside Ukraine which will relieve the pressure on the Ukrainian forces and give them time to rest and resupply and reorganize.

2. Damage the rail line in Rylsky which is one of the 2 main railroads from Russia into the northern Donbas

3. Demoralize Russia

4. Embarrass the midget dictator.

5. Cause enough damage at one of Russia's nuclear power plants that it's offline for good as payback for the damage that the ZNPP has received.

It's stupid, but it's also what Trump tried with North Korea.

Trump was the first President who actually got little rocket man to settle down. Most of the Norks saber rattling is to gain attention and have South Korea and others give them food and stuff.

I guess the cognitive dissonance is so heavy they can't muster much except "frick Ukraine."

So, earlier in this thread we had someone speculating about 1000 Ukrainian troops in this this invasion.force.

Now, we know that the real number is probably 10 times higher than that.

I don't think we will know the real number until after it no longer matters. Ukraine did a great job of keeping this assault under deep cover.

I wonder if they are going to roll up the Russian lines since they are through the defensive lines.

This was actually working pretty much before Xi took over in 2014, and Xi was emboldened in his thinking by Putin's anti-Western rhetoric...

in any event, we did kind of wrap China in a Chinese finger trap kind of relationship with the US as a market... and as we pull back from that now China will be screwed.

China is already suffering from Western manufacturers moving to other sources of cheap labor.

Seems like if they are headed towards a peace negotiation and redrawing borders, that Ukraine wants to claim as much territory as possible before that happens.

Are they thinking this because all those defensive ditches and mines that Russia placed all over the Donbas region proved effective at limiting Ukraine advances head on into them. Ukraine learned that in their prior failed offensive.

Could those also limit rapid Russian advances, and that is what enables Ukraine to feel comfortable with this plan?

Truth. Don't forget the neocon types like Bill Kristol and John Bolton. They sit over here and pray to send American boys to their deaths in worthless foreign wars like Iraq.

That fatass Bill Kristol should be sent to the frontlines in Ukraine
