re: Latest Updates: Russia-Ukraine Conflict

A large group of Russian soldiers were captured in Vovchansk by the 3rd Assault Brigade. Around 60 Russian prisoners in one day. Some of them say they were sent with a group of 70 and only 7 remained but all
wounded. No training given to some, others 1 week and then sent to the front as assault meat.

The Ukrainians are holding in Kharkiv. It’s the Chasiv Yar area that concerns me more. They need to be strengthening their flanks in that sector and digging in. Artillery needs to be dialed in because the Russian really want Chasiv Yar for its high ground over the area and it’s a supply line for the Ukrainians.

Let’s not pretend people who refused to get the faulty vaccine were/are demonized and fired in some cases.
Now you sit there and ask how does someone’s personal decision effect me? What a joke of a question.
I am generally of the opinion that taking the vax was a good decision at the time (and I had to for work personally, like many people) but now we know that it probably wasn't necessary for the vast majority of the population.
On this particular point you are right though. People with your opinion were being demonized for NOT making a personal decision at the time, and now those same people who were criticizing then say not to criticize others now for a "personal medical decision".
But just to be clear, there's just not any data that says the COVID vaccine has any more adverse side effects that any other vaccine. Literally anything you put in your body has the potential for side effects. Was it unneccessary? Probably. Is it actively harmful? For the vast majority of people, no.

I keep seeing mention of 400 Russians encircled at Vovchansk. I hope its true
Wasn't it like "an entire brigade got wiped out" or something a week ago?
When you said that then I looked on google, X, even facebook.... nothing.
Feels like I would get a similar result here.
Not fishy at all that one of the most vehemently pro-Ukraine posters here just drops super optimistic nuggets of "info" about the conflict, then never follows up or is asked for any evidence because its the "correct" opinion around here.
And that same person has made comments implying they have personal connections within Ukraine.

I googled it and immediately got several hits. It's being widely covered in the media. Here's a link to a Forbes article. This is the headline
"Trying And Failing To Cross A River In Vovchansk, 400 Russian Troops Got Cut Off. Now They’re Surrendering. -- Russia’s northern offensive isn’t going well."
LINK
Here's a Newsweek article:
"Russian Troops 'Surrendering' after Getting Trapped in Vovchansk Complex"
So does your Google just not work the way mine does? Or are you being disingenuous?

I didn't look this up because I assumed it was a waste of time considering the source. Happy to be surprised

Alternately called the chemical plant or the aggregate plant. Actually its' a factory for making HDPE fittings, and good sized. Lots of injection molding machines for various shapes and sizes.

Has Vovchansk fallen? Has Russia conquered the Donbas? Will Ukraine be forced to negotiate on extreme terms? Have F16s made their debut? Has the USA increased the number of Ukrainian women refugees to work on the Gulf Coast yet?

Leave it to a blog called Clusterfrick Nation to bring some sanity to this crazy world.
LINK
quote:
You realize, don’t you, that everything going on around the Ukraine fiasco on the NATO side is completely insane? The folks running the US government — Barack Obama and his witches’ coven — started the whole thing over there in concert with a gang of corporate players (BlackRock, sundry oil-and-gas companies, Haliburton types, arms-makers, bunch of big banks), plus the dastardly WEF for “guidance” (ha!), looking to grab the mineral wealth of Ukraine and, ultimately, of Russia itself. Nice try. Didn’t work out. Tons of money pounded down a rat hole.
Now, the chatter is that we (NATO) “can’t afford to lose.” Yeah? But we’re losing. Russia will hold the eastern Ukraine provinces and what’s left in the rest of Ukraine will be a failed state drained of men under sixty able to work at anything, bankrupt, broken. It will take a century, if ever, for Ukraine to recover from all that and the West will have gained nothing. Anyway, that’s the true prospect. And so, the West’s “solution” to that humiliating quandary appears to be: start a bigger war, right up to and including nukes. That’s good thinking there, Butch, said Sundance.
Why the European members of NATO wanted to go along with this nickel-plated clusterfrick is an abiding puzzle of history now, like who exactly bumped off JFK in 1963. Germany, the Euro club’s biggest economy, stood by listlessly while America blew up its supply of affordable natgas (the Nord Stream pipelines), which was an act of war by us against Germany. Apparently, Olaf Scholz went to our CIA station in Berlin for a haircut one day and came out with a lobotomy, staring blankly through the whole affair like a Hinterwälder steer on the killing floor. Meanwhile, goodbye industrial economy! Nice knowing you. Looks like it’s back to the fourteenth century, living on rough black bread, sleeping with the cattle under your house for heat in winter, fighting jihadis inside your town walls. . . .
What is the purpose, you ask yourself, of this new world war we’re itching to start? And why now, exactly? The stupid answers may be the correct ones. To furnish an emergency pretext allowing “Joe Biden” (Barack Obama & Co.) to “postpone” the election? If so, I guess they want a hot civil war even more than WWIII, because that’s what they’ll get. Or is it just to complete the destruction of the USA, turning us into a failed state run by a tranny Mamluk-ocracy? Or is it, as Ed Dowd has averred, to cover up the imminent implosion of the US / Euroland debt debacle?
To provide cover for all that, the West held a fake peace conference at a five-star resort in Switzerland last week — flutes of Louis Roederer Cristal Brut with langoustine mousse in puff pastry boats . . . to die for! (and you just might) — and you know how serious the USA was because we sent our ace problem-solver Veep Kamala Harris, who cackled and hee-hawed her way through a session or two and then. . . just. . . split the scene, mysteriously. Russia, was conspicuously not invited, by the way. Whose idea was that?
Mr. Putin marked the occasion by issuing a sane proposal to commence peace negotiations so plain, simple, and straightforward that even “Joe Biden” might have gotten the drift: 1) withdraw Ukrainian troops from Donbas territory that has joined the Russian Federation, and 2) agree that Ukraine not join NATO. The US and NATO instantly rejected it, on grounds unspecified. According to The New York Times own search engine this very morning (June 17), the newspaper hasn’t published a news story on the Ukraine War for the past five days. Go figure . . . .

Rare Ukrainian Smart Bomb Strikes Pound, Cut Off Russian Troops
According to reports the isolated Russians getting hit with NATO-standard smart munitions number at least a few dozen and possibly several hundred. They’ve held out two weeks so far
by Stefan Korshak | June 17, 2024, 4:45 pm
Kyiv’s pilots have repeatedly hit Russian infantry battling to capture the northern town of Vovchansk with modern precision-guided bombs sent by Western allies, in a rare break from longstanding Ukrainian Air Force tactics of avoiding frontline battles and air space usually dominated by the Russian Air Force.
Combat video and both Ukrainian and Russian milbloggers confirmed at least eight laser- or GPS-guided munitions launched by Ukrainian strike aircraft hitting known Russian positions on the property of a parts machining factory in the Kharkiv region town in two separate attacks.
According to open-source reports, some Russian soldiers holding positions on the premises of the Vovchansk Aggregate Factory are effectively cut off and possibly surrounded. Accounts have varied widely as to how many Kremlin troops have been isolated and the degree to which Ukrainian forces can maintain the siege. Ukrainian and some independent sources have variously estimated the Russian force at between a few dozen to as many as 400 men.
more reports from various Ukraine and Russian telegram channels...

So neither Kharkiv or Vovchansk fell within 48 hours? Why can the Russian military never live up to expectations.

Pretty obvious I was referring to the comments from a week ago, and the "feels like I would get a similar result here" implies I did not look it up.
Did you just not read my comment, or are you being an intentionally dishonest little frick?

If you don’t read it in Clusterfrick Nation, then it’s probably faux news. You should know that.

Looks like months of pounding away at Russian air defenses and radar is beginning to pay dividends.
