With Wagner's march to Moscow we saw what happens when Putin feels threatened, he hides like the little man he actually is.

Specifically, what does this agreement do that the Budapest Acords did not do?

I think the effort Russia put into defenses before the hyped Ukrainian counter-offensive points to the second one being true. I don't think you make that level of investment in securing the lines coupled with not really launching any huge offensives yourself unless you're prepared to really grind this out.
Totally agree on this point: they drew a line on the map and proceeded to defend it to the death. The level of defensive effort they put up was tremendous.

Mick Wallace loses election in Ireland for the MEP seat following Clare Daly a couple of days ago. They were considered Russia's best friends in the EU Parliament.

Not include Russia?

Or the UK. Does it modify our obligations from the Budapest Accords? That’s what I want to know.

I would say that all went out the window when Putin just ignored it with "I never signed that, that was somebody else so it doesn't matter" and Obama just kind of shrugged it off and did little things behind the scenes to kind of help Ukraine but publically just said "Ukraine is just not important to us..." when Putin snatched Crimea.

though part of Obama's thing was that he thought the Iran non-nuke deal was vastly more important and he needed Putin for that...
Trump scrapped that deal... there's not one in place, and while Iran probably won't develop nukes on their own any time soon... who knows if Russia will hep them, but does Russia even have anybody who knows what they're doing in that area, anymore?

You suffer from TDS.
Trump provided more thank blankets and 1st aid supplies to Ukraine when in office.
He likely would have approved a weapons free ROE for Ukrainians with our aide. No make them fight handicapped for 2+ years.
Too many neocon and libs in this thread with alternate versions of history and fantasy about what big bag orange will do. Look at what he did to aid them.

If I suffer from TDS, the leaders of the Western World do, too...

Breaking Defense has a new article up on Ukraine receiving Mirage 2000 jets from France.
Why did Ukraine change its mind and ask France for these jets, when they had previously indicated that they wanted the simplicity of just F-16s for now?
Read the full story to see specifically how Ukraine might use the Mirage. They discuss:
1) Mirage would likely serve as an escort for the Saab AWACS planes, and linking with their radar could make the Mirage a fearsome air-to-air platform.
2) Mirage is more challenging for enemy radar to detect, so it can fire SCALP missiles closer to the front lines than Ukraine's Su-24s.
The article also gets into some of the challenges.
quote:
The Dassault aircraft would potentially be the second western fighter aircraft to be flown by Ukraine’s armed forces, joining US-made F-16s donated by Denmark, Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands, with the first batch of jets expected to arrive sometime this summer.
quote:
In operating both types of aircraft, the Ukrainian Air Force (PSU) would be mirroring the force structure of Greece, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Taiwan — all of which also have the two models in their inventories. Like Ukraine, Greece had no advanced combat aircraft in its air force prior to acquiring the F-16 and Mirage 2000 but purchased both in the same year as part of a dual-tracked modernization plan.

quote:
“While I believe there is risk for Ukraine to take on a second fighter, I also believe I understand why they are doing it,” he told the publication via his Signal channel. “The Biden administration has slow-rolled F-16 delivery to the point that Zelensky is fed up and willing to assume the risk associated with standing up a second Western fighter jet capability.”

Working as crew for an S-300 or S-400 unit, especially in Crimea, is rather a risky job these days.

Apparently, Crimea is too vulnerable and expensive to maintain having to ship things around to the Kerch bridge, which is why Putin has always wanted "a land bridge" directly down to it through the Donbas... I would think shipping things down the Sea of Azov would be cheap, so maybe that's just an excuse to invade?
Crimea is about 93 miles by 200 miles. If they were at peace, supply wouldn't be hard at all by bridge and by ship. If they were at peace.

We have not provided Ukraine with as much aid as we have claimed.

are we going to make up the difference? Or do we just readjust the amount we claimed to have given them?

quote:You miss my point, or at least deflect from it. I couldn't care less about Russians in line. It's happened to them before. LSURussian speaks brilliantly to that. My concern is Americans in the same situation. We've leveraged/weaponized the USD in very dangerous ways.
You need to let all the Russians in line at the Russian banks that their money is safe.

I don't have the time to read the full report and analyze when the various equipment was donated and under which specific authority. Some of the spending authority for some of the older stuff has expired, so I feel sure that some of it cannot be made up with additional donations.
