Well, now that Johnson had gotten those bills out of the way, what is he going to do about the border?

Nothing, apparently. Last February conservative GOP Sen. Lankford's bi-partisan border deal was announced for Congressional approval. This bill included the most restrictive migrant legislation since the 1950's and included long-time GOP border priorities. But as soon as it was announced it was opposed and killed by Trump. The MAGA wing was instead pointed toward an impeachment of Mayorkas. So shiney...

Trump knows that the border and abortion will be the two biggest issues in the campaign. The last thing he wants is for Biden to have the legal power to be seen as solving the border problem. So the GOP will not offer any solution until after the election. They will want to blame Biden for everything.

But that puts the ball in Biden's court and the White House still has all the options. Many have suggested that Biden will wait until Sept. - October and declare the border a National Emergency and send the National Guard, suspending all asylum rules and shutting down all illegal immigration. The liberals would scream bloody murder (who cares) but the majority of fence-sitters would see Biden as getting tough and solving the problem. Finally.

Should be interesting.

Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president and current deputy chairman of Russia's security council, said the approval of new aid to Ukraine was "Russophobic" and would exacerbate "the number of victims of this war."

"I cannot with all sincerity not wish the United States to plunge into a new civil war as quickly as possible," Medvedev said on Telegram.

many outlets are repeating Medvedev's telegram post.

I disagree.

When Trump was president, the number of illegal aliens crossing the border was down. Way down.

Had the law changed since Buden was elected? No.

Now it’s the GOP’s fault because the Republican House won’t pass a law? Why can’t Biden enforce the current law?

We know why.

It looks like Germany is going to double their order from Raytheon from 4 new Patriot systems to 8 in the PAC-3 version. I think Ukraine might just get their wish and get flooded with several more Patriots. Germany is also producing 500 PAC-2 missiles a year on their own. If they can get enough anti aircraft systems to allow them to put one or 2 closer to the front to stop Russia dropping glide bombs it would greatly change things on the front. Right now glide bombs are Ukrainian troops’ worst problem and why they have been giving up ground little by little.

The disgrace is that we spent billions of USAI money on US-made drones that proved to be inferior, instead of spending that money on another Patriot system or two.

Raytheon has the capacity (and has had the capacity since the start of the conflict) to expand production, and we haven't taken advantage of it to really help Ukraine. Germany is finally going to do it for us.

Again, folks, Germany is spending money on American weapons and supporting American manufacturing jobs ... to help Ukraine. So, it's probably time for some ignoramus here to again claim that Europe needs to do its fair share.

I agree that the drones have been reported to be inferior. We should thank Ukraine for field testing them.

Not really. Excluding 2019, which spiked to over 800k, his term was pretty much on par with the rest of the decade, which makes Biden look way worse on this issue IMO

2010 - 463k
2011 - 349k
2012 - 364k
2013 - 420k
2014 - 486k
2015 - 337k
2016 - 415k
2017 - 310k
2018 - 404k
2019 - 859k
2020 - 305k
2021 - 1.6M
2022 - 2.2M
2023 - 2.0M

After 8 million illegals in country he wanted to stop the flood?

That's bullshite.

We need to not count illegals in cencu for any apportionment of House Of Representatives seats or for federal funding.

All illegals should be jailed until we repatriate them.

The failure to protect the Ukrainians after agreement in Budapest has far more to do with Poland protecting themselves than Trump.

That was my point. Under Trump the illegal crossings were way lower than under Biden. Way lower.

In two years of tge four years Trump had the totals were just over 300. Lower than any other years on your list. What caused 2019?

No. It could be, if we had frontline monitors providing real-time feedback to the manufacturers.

But the reality is that our drones were hopelessly outdated by the time they reached the front. The tech is evolving so quickly, and the constant modifications by electronic warfare systems mean that Ukraine itself is producing far more effective drones than any of its allies.

Ukraine and Russia are now, by a good bit, the world leaders in drone tech. They have made such software and hardware advances lately that the rest of the world is lagging behind.
