Britain is considering providing Ukraine with prototype laser weapon
12.04.2024 13:41
The United Kingdom is considering providing Ukraine with a prototype of the DragonFire laser weapon that can shoot down drones and missiles.
This was stated by Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, Ukrinform reports citing The Telegraph.
During a visit to the Porton Down Defense Laboratory on Thursday, Shapps emphasized the importance of rapid deployment of new weapons technologies.
"Every time there’s a delay, there’s a cost attached. What I want to do is speed up what would usually be a very lengthy process, possibly up to 10 years, down to a much shorter timeframe and get it deployed, potentially on ships and potentially on land," the minister said.
According to him, the UK plans to adopt the DragonFire laser weapon by 2027. At the same time, the country is considering sending prototypes of this weapon to Ukraine earlier, even if it is not 100% perfect.
This laser weapon was created to destroy drones, but, according to Shapps, the system is powerful enough to hit faster projectiles, such as ballistic missiles.

The Live Fire Testing phase. MIC lobbying money going to good use. Where else can you get real world war testing vs a peer level military? So much ROI for your lobbying dollar!
The opportunity is endless!

Ultimately, you can joke about ROI and MIC all you want, it doesn't change the fact that Russia invaded Ukraine.
Ukraine posed no genuine threat to Russia. Nobody was going to invade Russia, a country with 10k nuclear weapons. There was no imminent threat to Russian interests. They invaded a foreign country for no reason.

That refinery was out of commission for two months in 2022 after a drone attack in June.

Both can be, and are, true. Russia invading Ukraine gave the MIC something to extract value from.

Testing and practice make perfect.
Of course Russia could prevent deployment of this and all other weapons but just ending their invasion.

Retired tanks, fighting vehicles and other with old technology that no one in the MIC gives two shits about anymore?
Got it.

It's needed bc every time the news turns bad for Ukraine the chickenhawks scamper away and the thread languishes on page 2 or 3

It's the ideal testing ground under real war conditions.

It is foolish on the Russian's part to attack residences that play no part in the war rather than military targets.

Nova Group sets up new electricity generation company amid Russian attacks on infrastructure
by Kateryna Denisova April 12, 2024 6:26 PM
Nova Group has set up a company that will generate energy on a regular basis, including both solar and gas power, the group's co-owner Volodymyr Popereshniuk announced on April 12.
The newly-created Nova Energy is the seventh company to join Nova Group, which owns Nova Poshta, Ukraine's leading postal service.
"When the Russians started to attack electricity generation, we realized that we needed to strengthen the autonomy of energy supply," Popereshniuk wrote on Facebook.
Popereshniuk hopes that other companies will also enter the electricity generation market.
"If regulations and prohibitions do not interfere, entrepreneurs will quickly create the capacities needed for the economy," he added.

Considering how other Muslims chant shite like "river to the sea" for decades, I don't get how Chechens, who were tore up from the floor up by the Russians 20 years ago, just decide they're going to actively help the regime.
Money talks. Putin paid off the Chechen leaders (aka warlords) who lived. Those leaders control the Chechen populace using methods that are legal and illegal under the laws of Russia and Allah.

Northrop Grumman up about $100 a share since November-ish 2022 when it became apparent the conflict was brewing.
Lockheed Martin $110 per
General Dynamics almost $90 per
S&P 500 up about 10% in that timeframe vs 25%-ish for the examples I gave
When we give away our old shite what do you think we do for our own military, exactly? Just not replace it?
