Would this allow for Ukraine to have low flying aircraft in support of ground troops?

Newsweek also reports that some Republicans have started a media blitz to support congressional Republicans who favor a discharge petition for Ukraine aid.
Biden just agreed last week to negotiate with Johnson last week. There are plenty of republicans who support a discharge petition if negotiations fail, but why in the f**k are they helping the dems move forward with plan B prior to negotiations fail. Why are republicans so f**king stupid?

The fact that close to 15 million swarthy illegal men will have invaded our border during Biden's term and it doesn't move the needle for you is probably proof that you are indeed no longer a Republican.
I definitely don't have a problem with how swarthy they are. The fact that overt racists like you do feel comfortable in the GOP is definitely one reason I increasingly do not belong.
The LOL part of all of this, though, is the ongoing pretention. Trump promised to build the wall and make Mexico pay for it. He had a GOP majority in both the House and Senate for 2 years, and did the GOP pass a bill funding the wall? No, Trump got a tax cut passed for his rich friends, and then Trump got the GOP to argue about Obamacare and then do nothing. That was the full legislative achievement of two years of full GOP control.
Because the truth is that the GOP actually wants the border to be a mess. They want to be angry about it, not fix it. Because a lot of people don't want any more "swarthy" people in the country,
Now, the same stupid chumps are again agitating for the GOP: "Vote for us, and this time we will really build the wall!" And some people are really stupid enough to believe it.

I expect Finland to get some smoke after Putin is done with Ukraine. Look at his quotes:
quote:
"Finland and Sweden joining NATO does not pose a direct threat to Russia, but the expansion of military infrastructure on their territory will certainly trigger a response from us. We will analyze the threats posed to us and take corresponding countermeasures."
"They (the West) dragged Finland into NATO. Did we have any disputes with them? No. So why create another problem? It's not a good thing."
"Russia has always respected the right of countries to choose their own security arrangements, but it must also ensure its own security interests."

unconfirmed, but russian media is claiming their AD shot it down so it may in fact be down
I will never understand why Russia thinks it is better to claim they accidentally shot down their own aircraft instead of admitting that Ukraine shot it down. I guess Russians are like Bama fans where they only admit to beating themselves. I wonder if they boink their cousins too?

Yes, they already do but remember that air defense systems still have their own radars, just not as strong as the A-50 does so they can’t see aircraft from far off or detect cruise missiles being fired as easily as they would with airborne command and control helping to direct things. AWACS are vital to modern air forces. This is a tremendous loss. I just wish there were F-16s already in country to start taking advantage of their blind spots.

I see your point but a 2nd Biden term is way worse.
Doubt he would live long enough to serve the full term and here comes Kamala. I sure can get worse.

Holy shite this is HUGE for Ukraine! I don’t think Russia has anymore airworthy A-50 aircraft left. This will basically blind them now past what their fighter’s radar can see. WOW. AWACS are not easy to produce either and they are absolutely vital to air operations. I don’t know what the hell we would do if we didn’t have the capability we have in this area.
Yep. Russia was bragging about how it was pairing its AWACs with its S400s which would make them invulnerable to Ukrainian wild weasels and would allow them to destroy F16s with ease. Russia should really learn to keep its mouth shut.

I appreciate that Ukraine knocked all of these out of the sky, but what does it mean for actual combat on the ground?
The biggest impact will come when Ukraine gets its F-16s. Those planes will have significantly more freedom to operate if Russia has no A-50s.

When do you think the Russian invasion of Finland is happening, precisely? Reminder: Finland is OFFICIALLY in NATO, while Ukraine isn't even in serious consideration yet
Friendly reminder that NATO is a MILITARY ALLIANCE.
. From a Russian perspective this definitely counts as aggression. Finland and nato have nobody to blame but themselves if shite escalates

I'm seeing remarks on twitter that it was out of Patriot range. Lots of speculation.

Right. Would F16s be able to safely operate tho on and around the front line? Or would S400s stationed even behind Russian border still pose too great of a threat?
Seems this could be huge opportunity for Ukraine .

It is not just F-16s. According to my sauce(s) in the Ukrainian Air Force whenever the Russians have AWACS coverage they shut down their ground radars near the front line and use their AWACs to track Ukrainian planes and helicopters near the front lines. That allows the Russian SAMs to turn on their ground radars just long enough to take a shot. This is one of the main reasons why the Ukrainian wild weasels have been less effective over the past year or so than they were in 2022 despite having more Migs capable of wild weasel missions. Now that Russia is down to just 1 AWACs aircraft or none at all Russia will have to choose between leaving its ground radars on and being vulnerable to HARM missiles or leaving them off and having gaps in their air coverage over the front line that Ukrainian helicopters and ground attack helicopters can take advantage of.

Putin knows that and as much as I hate on Putin I have to admit that he is not stupid. Putin miscalculated when he thought that his invasion of Ukraine would cause a rupture in NATO that would allow him to go after the Baltic countries. Despite what the Kremlin says Putin is not stupid enough to FAFO with NATO.

What do you think Mushbrain Biden will do with the border? He has proven that. Biden created this border crisis and it is one reason that you are seeing this pushback against aid for Ukraine and/or Nato. Americans are pissed when they see billions of dollars going to protect other countries and the federal government is unwilling to defend ours. If Biden hadn't of allowed millions to enter this country illegally you might not be seeing such a severe pushback. He had bipartisan support for Ukraine aid for at least 1.5 years and what did he do? He drug his feet and would not send the weapons needed when Ukraine had the advantage. So frick him and his limp wristed advisors.
Biden family is corrupt as hell. Biden's foreign policy has been a disaster.
There is no way on God's green Earth or hell that I would/will vote for Joe Biden.

Safely is a tricky word. The S-400 is still a formidable weapon but it was greatly enhanced when it paired with the A-50’s range. It will no doubt free up the F-16s for more combat sorties, particularly SEAD. They are going to light them the frick up with HARM missiles coming off the F-16’s rail compared to the Mig-29 which they had to basically rig together. The HARM will be much much more effective when it’s being used on the F-16 because the f-16 “talks” to the HARM more efficiently than that of the Mig-29. The Russians would have rather lost 10 Su-35s than that one A-50.

The mythical F-16s. Are any of these in the fight yet? The delays are ridiculous.
