The official news service TASS already reported over 4000 Russian troops killed a few days ago but it got removed from the website soon after it was posted.

I'm no military expert, but 498 dead in the first week seems like Ukraine is definitely inflicting some pain.

Yeah, when looking at it from the POV of how the United States fights modern wars.
The Russians? I think they'd be thrilled with *only* 498 dead in the first week of an invasion of Ukraine.
I think Ukrainians and Russians alike are still stuck in the mindset that it is somehow glorious, or one's duty to die in battle for one's country. Most western nations disposed of that mindset after the horrors witnessed a hundred years ago in WW1. We can see by the disparity in numbers of casualties from then to WW2 just by looking at the numbers on the eastern front.

US intelligence put the number at at least 2,000 dead Russians yesterday morning.
Ukraine said 5,000 a couple days ago.
Weagle99 posted some pro-Russian site that claimed some ridiculously low number of like 29 or something.

Just reading this post and thinking back to the messaging the US put out before the invasion started...leads me to believe US Intelligence is doing serious work. Hell, we may even have people in the top levels of the Kremlin seeing as how they've pretty much nailed some of this stuff.
