Very intresting. More and more russian outlets are reporting that a "terrorist attack/explosion" on board Prigozhin's jet caused it to crash

Just trying to create the typical doubt and confusion in the information space inside Russia. The plane was shot down by terrorists, but the terrorists are in Moscow.

How stupid was that guy to actually get into a plane after doing that coup

Prigozhin was dead the moment he halted the Wagner forces heading to Moscow.

About Prigozhin: It is worth waiting for the fog of war to disappear... Meanwhile, it is obvious that Putin does not forgive anyone for his own bestial terror. Exactly the one that nullified him in June 2023. And he was waiting for the moment. It is also obvious that Prigozhin signed a special death warrant for himself the moment he believed in Lukashenko's bizarre "guarantees" and Putin's equally absurd "word of honor." The demonstrative elimination of Prigozhin and the Wagner command two months after the coup attempt is a signal from Putin to Russia's elites ahead of the 2024 elections. "Beware! Disloyalty equals death". But it is also a signal to the Russian military: There will be no "SVO heroes". If it isn't a Ukrainian tribunal, it will be an FSB bullet.

Somewhere in that wreckage is a lesson on the value of a Russian truce.

In future news, a kind, portly gentlemen just opened a great new hotdog and ice cream parlor on the beach in Uruguay called Yevgeny’s.

Ukrainian-Russian war. Day 546:
Situation on Zaporizhia front: Recent video footage shows Ukrainian flag placed in the roof of the town council of Robotyne/????????, which was retaken today by the 47th Mechanized brigade. The battle has been one of the longest and toughest battles of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which lasted 71 days.
During that period of time Russian troops have shown an incredible defensive capacity despite the numerical inferiority on this axis, as it was foreseeable that the population would be taken back by the Ukrainians relatively easily. However, once Ukrainian forces entered the town, it was only a matter of days before the Russians eventually withdrew. Indeed, the arrival of new reinforcements from the 7th Airborne Division allowed some positions to be regained by replacing the exhausted Russian troops, but the aim was only to allow a comfortable retreat to the southern defences and the town of Novoprokopivka/?????????????? where further fighting was to take place.
Consequently, the southern part of the locality remains a grey area subject to shelling, but one thing is certain, there are no more Russian soldiers in the locality.
The recapture of Robotyne is a morale boost for Ukrainian troops who will most likely take advantage of it to try to breach the ever-closer first line of the main Russian defence, which will happen in the 3rd phase of the counter-offensive that is beginning and in which a larger number of troops will be involved. A significant victory is necessary if the #UkrainianArmy is to continue to receive foreign aid. However, the #RussianArmy has been preparing its defences since the end of last year and has already demonstrated that Russian troops will put up stubborn resistance to every square kilometre in contention.

Why not the Russian Orthodox Cross? I guess maybe not enough windows/pixels on the building. In any case a cross for Prigozhin is the height of dark humor.

You have to admit that Putin did a great job of making this an "eye for an eye" kind of thing. From Forbes:

quote:

the Wagner fighters shot down six Russian aircraft: five helicopters and an Ilyushin Il-22M Coot aerial command post and radio-relay plane. Reportedly, 13 crew died in the six shoot-downs.

A mini "night of the long knives" considering the Wagner decapitation.

If that were the case, why would Russia and Belarus cut off the internet to area where Wagner's troops are located? Why would you need to stop a leaderless organization from communicating. In fact, you would want them to have communications so their new commanders (the Russian MOD) could give them their orders.

ETA: If Wagner is not going to respond then someone might want to tell Wagner that.

quote:

Wagner soldiers in Belarus release a statement:

“There’s a lot of talk right now about what the Wagner Group will do. We can tell you one thing. We are getting started, get ready for us.”
LINK

That does not sound like a leaderless organization that is about to roll over.

Frankly I always thought it was stupid for Wagner to just stop like they did. Once they began their March on Moscow, the Rubicon had been crossed. Anyone with walking around sense knew Putin would not just let it go. The moment they started the March to Moscow they should have realized from that moment on either they were going to take Putin out or he was going to take them out. Prigozhin was stupid and it got him killed.

Exactly how I felt. It made zero sense for him to just bail. He was dead if he didn’t cross the finish line.

Hey, we finally agree on something. If you are going to revolt then you have to commit. The Wagner leaders were dead men walking from the second they agreed to stop their march.
