The 2nd assault batallion of the already famous 3rd separate assault brigade cleared positions of Russian Storm-Z units and the 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade.
"This operation lasted more than 12 hours, the Russians were pushed back 1,800 meters. They tried to counterattack, but ended up being completely defeated and demoralized. Neither reserves nor artillery helped."

Russia threatens all ships heading to Ukrainian ports after midnight
"Economichna Pravda" — Wednesday, 19 July 2023, 18:54
Russia will consider all ships, regardless of flag, heading to Ukrainian ports from midnight on 20 July as involved in a military conflict.
Source: Russian Defence Ministry report, quoted by the Russian media
Details: The Russian Defence Ministry reported that informational warnings were issued about the withdrawal of safety guarantees to seafarers in connection with the termination of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Quote: "On 17 July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced that the termination of the 'grain initiative' means the withdrawal of shipping safety guarantees, as well as the curtailment of the maritime humanitarian corridor and the closure of the Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) in Istanbul," Russian media reported.
"From 00:00 Moscow time on 20 July, all vessels travelling to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered potential carriers of military cargo," the report reads.
Details: The Defence Ministry also stated that "the flag countries of such ships will be considered involved in the Ukrainian conflict on the side of Kyiv".

This sucks. And with news that Russia may target merchant ships, they are about to FAFO.

Yep my mind skipped right over that.

In fact, if you read your own link, that’s just an estimate from the CBO. Nothing firm, nothing binding.
Have you got better information? If so present that instead of being a boo bird sitting on the fence.

But it doesn’t answer the question. Why is the Ukrainian counteroffensive not yielding the results expected
Obviously Ukraine doesn’t have everything necessary to roll back the Russians who have had all winter and spring to entrench.
They certainly lack air power, engineering and mine removal, and enough well trained and battle tested soldiers.

Port and harbor security seems like a new item.
Any guess what that is? I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Did we ever get any information on what Russia might have offered Turkey for them to back off in their pledge to protect grain shipments?

They are going the route of Germany in WW1/WW2.
But Ukraine are the real Nazis!

Theory: Russia is using the threat of refugees to strongarm the end of the war.
If a global famine happens, refugees will flood into Europe like never before. As they get overrun, those countries shift further to the right politically, which brings more isolationist policies.
So they’re using refugees as a weapon to starve Ukraine of aid.

Why is the West so hell bent on refusing to negotiate an end to the killing?
Be honest, what’s there to negotiate?
Russia wants Ukraine and Ukraine wants Russia out. Both have proven over time that they will sacrifice their men and resources to achieve their goals.

What do you think the word “estimate” means?
They’ll blow through that support, then need more…much earlier than the “estimate” that the allotted funds should last until 2026.
You happy with your tax money being wasted?

Ukraine claims more forward movement near Bahkmut.
Russian forces were pushed out from their positions near the village of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, lying northwest of Bakhmut, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces spokesperson Andrii Kovalov said on July 19.
"During the hostilities, the Russian occupiers were forced to retreat from their positions northeast of Orikhovo-Vasylivka," the spokesperson said.

Their only answer is "Ukraine has to give up more territory, demilitarize, and promise to never join NATO" which is of course completely ridiculous b/c that would mean that Russia will just do this all over again in 5-10 years.

It’s not. The majority of weapons and equipment are new in box.
