Lol not surprised. No serious soldier would have their damn phone on the frontlines.

Seeing all the go pro mounts on helmets has been an intriguing part of this conflict for sure.

The Soviets buried tanks in WW2 to serve as stationary guns. Maybe that’s what they intend to do with them. Regardless, whatever they decide to do with these museum pieces should be good for a nice laugh.

He is one of the many accounts I follow, I saw the posts this morning accusing him.

That is pretty disappointing if true.

Recently he had posted that he was attached to the 67th Mech Brigade, and had been awarded a unit patch for his participation. If he's larping, it is an elaborate larp that would be easily disproven.

He has seemed to be away from the front a lot lately, 1st to attend the funeral of the leader of the 67th, Davinci, who was killed about 2 weeks ago and now for some R&R. I'm thinking your unit isn't getting R&R, why are you.

T55s can probably be breached by a .50 cal sniper rifle, much less som variants of the more common infantry weapons.

I think the Snipex Alligator might have it covered.

France trains Ukrainian pilots on Mirage

LINK

quote:

Since the beginning of the war , France has often been criticized by its European allies for the ambiguity of its Russian policy. It has, however, been at the forefront of military aid to Ukraine several times, supplying it first with Caesar guns , then with AMX tanks. The latter had paved the way for the delivery of Western heavy tanks, in particular the famous Leopard of German design, very numerous in the parks of the European armies.

It is still there today by training Ukrainian pilots in the Mirage 2000 fighter planes designed by Dassault Aviation*. For more than a month and a half, around thirty of them have been receiving accelerated training on French fighter-bombers at the air bases of Mont-de-Marsan and Nancy. The decision was taken before Volodymyr Zelensky 's visit to Paris on February 8. France thus joins the United States, which also provides training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16s. And the United Kingdom, which announced at the beginning of February its intention to also take this new stage of the war.

From the pro-Russian @warmonitors:
quote:

#BREAKING Sources close to Rybar report that Ukrainian forces have “penetrated” Russian defences near the town of Pologovsky, Zaporizhia direction.

It appears that Ukraine is doing more reconnaissance-in-force in the South.

This sounds like something you could might do when humans are limitless as they were for 1940s Russia, but Russian in 2023 has finite manpower hours. I can’t imagine the effort in terms of manpower, transportation, etc. is worth whatever utility these old tanks might have in the battlefield, weather as mobile vehicles or a type of improvised fixed artillery piece.

Everyone one of these old tanks just seems like a bad allocation of resources for Russia.

scanning some twitter reports, and sounds like more of a recon in force then a breakthrough

some claimed "penetrated" was a bad translation....more like a ukrainian forces "bit into" or hit some russian forces in the grey zone in that area.

Maybe they will use these in secondary defense lines to back up other units when Ukraine goes on offense.

Last I remember seeing was the two female officers being awarded medals for the killing of two Ukranian naval drones, though the video showed AA fire as well.

Or is this something new new?

OSINTdefender is now reporting on it too with a slightly different perspective, still too early to be anything big and I think you are right that they are testing the waters as this is the third or fourth report now from this region in the last few weeks of Ukraine doing more than just absorbing Russian attacks, there is every possibility it's misdirection as well.

Twitter - @sentdefender Ukrainian Forces have reportedly Advanced today and Captured the Northern Section in the Settlement of Novodanylivka

Edit: Fixed quote and further comment.

If they already awarded the naval officers for action from last night then yes it would be, though I would question their priorities in putting that through so quickly.

That's a 5.45x39 round for the AK-74, not 7.62x39.
