send the M1s the marines are taking out of service. even with 105mm rifled guns, they will be an outclass vs the T-72 they will be facing...
What is the 105mm ammo situation for this cannon?

From Politico:
The USAI is about purchasing new equipment. This is about (eventually) giving Ukraine 30 new Abrams tanks.

One of the two U.S. officials said the Biden administration is considering sending around 30 Abrams tanks.
The vehicles would likely come through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, according to a third person familiar with the issue. The program allows Washington to finance the purchase of weapons and equipment for Ukraine, as opposed to pulling them from existing U.S. stockpiles.

That is probably a good thing. General Dynamics is currently producing the export version of the M1A2s for Poland. The USA and Poland agreed to a deal where Poland bought 116 M1A1s likely some of the M1A1s without DU armor that were in storage and they would be upgraded before delivery in exchange for Poland giving Ukraine T72s. It would be real easy to give to Poland an additional 30-50 upgraded M1A1s in exchange for those 30 export versions going to Ukraine.

Germany to deliver 15 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine.
The German government has flip-flopped so many times on this I'm hesitant to believe anything coming out of Berlin. But it hasn't looked this positive in the past.
The news from Switzerland is great too. If you face the wind you can just make out the smell of last weekend's riot act.

While Russia might hold the DU mech armor initially when their attempts to decode it fail China would likely get access.
A client has been making modified starch polymers from corn or potato starch mostly for additives to drilling fluids, since the mid 1960's None of the Euro multinational companies have been able to meet the same specs. China hasn't either. India has almost met the same specs in just a few years of attempts. This company has 75% world market share due its quality and price.
Sometimes worrying about China is unfounded unless it steals the formulae themselves, rather than reverse engineer. Huawei wouldn't have 5G if it had not of stolen the technology outright from HP and others.

Small potatoes there but glad it is being rooted out.
I do remember all the hubub over KBR prices in Iraq. When you have to comply with some stupid specs and logistics involved higher costs will occur. KBR made so much money (NOT) that Halliburton had to spin it off into a completely separate company due it was negatively impacting Halliburton's profits.
As far as driving expensive vehicles goes, that is why in most rural communities, the wealthy wear khakis or jeans around town but have tailor made Italian suits when they go to board meetings out of town. They aren't doing anything wrong, just don't want to attract unneeded attention.

Huzzah for flip flops!
Well played to several regular posters who forecast this some time ago.

The reality is Ukraine is attempting to curtail corruption within its system… while in Russia it’s simply the way things are done.

Not trying to be a downer but i wonder what true difference 3 battalions of western tanks will be able to do. Really had hoped they could get a couple armored brigades of Leopards. I’m sure Germany or someone still has some older Leopard 1s in storage that Ukraine wouldn’t mind taking. They are older and have a 105 mm cannon besides a 120 mm but it’s still better than what they have. The Bradleys will help but they need a couple hundred tanks to really be able to make a move. I also would like to know the situation on ammunition for their Soviet tanks. I know they were supposedly running low and didn’t have a way to produce more. The U.S. can probably step in and buy tank rounds from African countries that operate Soviet tanks still and other Baltic countries but to go on the offensive they will need ammunition and a lot of it.

The Germans have some Leopard1s in storage but they need to fixed and Rheinmenthal has said it would take most of the year to get 100 or so Leopard1s combat ready and that includes upgrading their main gun to 120 mm. That can be done easily since the turret of the Leopard1A5 was designed to accommodate a 105 mm main gun or 120 mm main gun. Greece also has around 500 Leopard1A5s but I do not think it wants to part with any military equipment giving its strained relationship with Turkey. Jordan is in the process of retiring 300+ Challenger1 tanks which could be another source of cold-war era NATO tanks.

Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia have the capability to produce 125 mm ammo. Ukraine also has the ability to produce it as well.

Take it with a grain of salt of course but supposedly 3 more Ka-52 helicopters were shot down in Zaporizhzhia today.

Sounds like Russia is trying to force an offensive breakthrough. Keep losing troops and equipment and u open yourself for a counter offensive…..

Ukrainian and U.S Intelligence Officials believe that Russia could be in the final preparations for an Offensive on the Northeastern City of Kharkiv which Russian Military Forces initially failed to captured during the start of the Invasion.
Looks like the pressure on Bakhmut and the recent uptick in fighting in the Zaporizhzhia oblast are just a diversion, or maybe a new assault on Ukraine's 3rd largest city is a diversion to allow Russia to be able to secure Bakhmut after 7+ months of fighting.
