With both banks of the river fortified now from opposing sides (or about to be), it seems the next logical step for a major offensive is for Ukraine to free up some forces that have been dedicated to Kherson and to cut south toward Melitopol, slice the Russian forces in half, and isolate access to Crimea.

Do we think BKR was conscripted? Did his check bounce? Need to hear from him ASAP.

I forgot how long ago I made this for WeeWee I had to scroll forever on my imgur account to find it.
I am gonna post this one again even though it has just been a couple of days. Based on the news about Kherson it is apropos. Plus it just makes me grin.

Such a move would no doubt force the Russians to the negotiating table.

My guys are saying the withdrawal is going badly for Russia.

So does this mean the recapture of Kherson is imminent?
Yes. The Russian military has ordered all their troops to retreat to the other side of the river. The Russian commanding general made the announcement on live Russian TV to Shoigu, their minister of defense.

Here's filmed faux meeting of Surovikin recommending troop withdrawal and Shoigu agreeing by giving the rationale of saving combat readiness and to spare the civilian population. Looks like they're definitely trying to soften the blow for the Russian news audience.

ETA: this what GOP Tiger's post above references.
We were hearing that there was something of a phony withdrawal going on before with them inserting their mobiks in place of their better troops. I guess we have to wait and see if this really is total withdrawal, but they've abandoned the government buildings and civic infrastructure and commerce of the city is back in hryvnia, and the collaborationist Ukrainian just happens to somehow die in an accident same day as they announce this order...

Yeah, if they could do it, that would be fantastic. The Kerch bridge disaster is affecting those Russian troops as well, as there's no rail line from Russia through Mariupol. The Russian rail line through the South goes through Donetsk and then passes within a kilometer of the front line -- in easy Javelin range -- so no Russian trains can come that way.
The only way Russia can supply those troops is by truck through Mariupol, or by ferry across the Kerch straight and then reloaded onto rail in Crimea.
But Russia has reinforced that area, and I don't know if Ukraine currently has the strength to attack there right now.
But Ukraine is about to collect hundreds of tanks and pieces of heavy equipment from retreating Russians in Kherson. The Ukrainian military is about to get a lot stronger, and the Russian military is about to get a lot weaker.

Let’s wait until confirmation on Kherson. I saw on Twitter that a Ukrainian advisor to Zelenskyy say there are still Russian units in the city and plan to fight it out but we’ll see.

I mean, at this point, who would think that Russian forces could execute a skilled retrograde action?
I seriously can't wait to see how many Russian troops and how many tanks, SPGs, etc. got left behind. It's going to be like Christmas for the Ukrainian military, with all the new toys they're going to get.

@wartranslated
Moment Surovikin and Shoygu admit defeat in the Kherson direction and announce the withdrawal of troops.
Translated - decision to retreat
