Newsweek article on Russia's retreat, or more accurately, retrenching in Kherson.
Newsweek

quote:

Professional soldiers and those who appear to be from the Rosgvardia [an upper echelon Russian domestic police force] have been quite actively leaving the territory [of right bank Kherson region],"

quote:

"They are being replaced with troops who were recently mobilized in the Russian Federation: people who are poorly motivated, who don't know why they are there, and who are looting everything they can," he added. "

quote:

Swapping out experienced units in favor of fresh conscripts devoid of competent officers may not sound like a winning military strategy, but if Russia's goal is to create as much havoc as possible for approaching Ukrainian troops and pro-Ukrainian civilians alike, it is a formula that may well succeed in meeting its limited objectives.

"Putin is trying to create the illusion that he is protecting the city," Samoilenko explained, "but it looks more like he is actually preparing to present these newly mobilized troops as martyrs who died in defense of the Russian Federation."

Due to the night strike on energy facilities in the Kyiv region, the former schedules of fan outages in the capital are no longer relevant, outages will be unscheduled and long-lasting.

This is reported on Yasno's Facebook page.

UPDATE ON UKRAINE 27 October 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

On 24 October 2022, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin will coordinate the 'development of security measures' in Russia's regions. This followed Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree introducing a new regimen of security alert levels.

This measure is likely to lead to a closer interlinking of regional governors into Russia's national security system. It is a further measure to organise society as Russia's war against Ukraine continues to be under pressure.

The greater involvement of regional officials is likely at least partially designed to deflect public criticism away from the national leadership. The Kremlin pursued a similar approach during the COVID-19 crisis. However, it will likely make it more difficult for the Kremlin to insulate Russian society from the effects of the 'special military operation' in Ukraine.

Apparently RFK Jr's son fought in Ukraine for two months, first a a drone operator, then as a machine gun operator.

Governor: Ukraine destroys Russian barracks in Luhansk Oblast, at least 10 officers killed
October 27, 2022 12:05 pm

Nearly 60 Russian military personnel, including at least 10 officers, were killed after Ukraine attacked the barracks near the occupied village of Korzhove, Luhansk Oblast Governor Serhii Haidai reported on Oct. 27.

After separate strikes in Luhansk Oblast, about 100 wounded Russian soldiers were brought to Holubivka on Oct. 24-25, according to Haidai.

On Oct. 25, Haidai said Ukraine had liberated three more settlements in Luhansk Oblast but didn't specify their names.

Putin can't be so detached from reality as to think his war is going anything but catastrophically. What's his plan for getting from the current situation to achieving his goals?

That’s a really good question… because Putin has escalated the conflict (through annexation and mobilization), he has to maintain his maximalist goals.

He’s in a rock and a hard place… who do you change to dynamic?… or maybe he feels he can wait out the West?… idk.

Over the last two weeks the change has been an attempt to push propaganda narratives, such as the “dirty bomb” story and the “Putin wants to negotiate peace” story and the “bomb shelters in Moscow” story to try to deflect from the objective fact that Russia is throwing more and more resources at the invade and conquer operation. I expect an endless stream of bullshite out of Russia along this vein. Russia hasn’t taken an actual step to try to end the war, and it appears as though they have no intention of doing so.

The damn Germans. They never learn. Smart people but No common sense. We continue to foot the bill for their defense, but they sell out to Russian gas despite warnings from Trump and now this. If they are going to continue to do stupid shite like this, it is time we cut them off and let them.pay for their own defense.

You are supporting George Bush's New World Order. You are supporting the type of people who would release a biological weapon on the entire planet as a pretense to oust a political rival. You are supporting forever wars.

What you are not supporting is the one fricking man on this planet with the balls and ability to stand up to these evil bastards. We have been telling you for five years now that the goal is to destroy the current order. And if you'll pay attention, that is exactly what is happening.

Does this mean that Putin is on our side in this? Absolutely. He has said as much explicitly. That he is taking down the corrupt, Satanic western world order. And he's exactly right about what they are. This is something else we have been telling you for five damn years now.

Get your heads out your asses and get on the right side of history.

Like was said 9mnths ago

That was when this thread said they were going to Invade Finland and march on Paris

Certainly looks like two of the largest too, although your graphic isn’t 25 years worth. He inherited the 2017 budget and from there it increased annually to the two highest amounts in your graphic. More importantly was what it was spent on, attempting to undo Obama’s eroding of the navy for example.

From ISW last night which 100% agrees with that statement

quote:

Putin stated that Ukraine has “lost sovereignty” in a meeting with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) security officials on October 26.[5] Putin stated that the United States is using Ukraine as a “battering ram” against Russia, the Russian-Belarusian Union State, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the CIS. Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin amplified this narrative, stating that “Ukraine has lost the ability to exist as a state,” “Ukraine is occupied by NATO,” and “[Ukraine] has become a colony of the US” on October 26.[6] This language is incompatible with negotiations on an equal basis for a ceasefire, let alone a resolution to the conflict that Russia began. It instead strongly suggests that the Kremlin still seeks a military victory in Ukraine and regime change in Kyiv that would affect the permanent reorientation of Ukraine away from the West and into Russia’s control. It also indicates that Putin’s aims transcend the territory he has claimed to have annexed, let alone the areas his forces actually control.

Eta just remember this was totally only about Nazis and biolabs and resources and Kyiv and Kharkiv were just feints and this war has absolutely nothing to do with Putins ego
