what we get and others dont is that the US wanted this war to happen so we goaded putin. putin didnt want this, but what was he supposed to do when the americans continued to break the treaty they signed with russia to stop growing NATO? that didnt work so obama green lighted a coup in ukraine. that didnt work, so biden flirted with ukraine and NATO. that reasonably was the last straw. putin fought this, but was left no choice
Link me the treaty that was signed that said no further expansion of NATO. Show an iron clad, written out, and signed treaty and I’ll believe it. There have only ever been whispers of such an agreement. Unless someone can produce official documentation this theory is false.

Because that's the west's responsibility, obviously.

On second thought the fact that you couldn’t tell says all you need to know about the state of that board these days.

Cause most of us don't want to hear about it. Let them be them over there.

Let me ask a question to everyone on here. What do you want or expect to happen IF Putin uses a tactical nuke on Ukraine?
Don’t think anyone in here wants it to happen for us to find out.
That said, we’ve made it clear it won’t be tolerated and met with significant force. Not doing so sends the message it’s accepted and is potentially more risky worldwide than acting. In that context I guess I’d want a unified NATO operation that fully expels Russia from Ukrainian soil, Crimea included, with hopes that at that point a peace agreement is reached. Russia would have been made explicitly told the next steps are on Russian soil and that no one has any sense of gain from that escalation. Assuming this is achieved, rebuilding effort and Ukrainian ascension to EU and NATO fast tracked to prevent this decision making from being needed again.
Personally, I’m glad I’m not the one responsible for the decision.

Russia owes Iran bigtime now due the drones and even missiles which Russia doesn't have. The problem is that the mullahs (who do love to molest young boys) may be going down soon.

Why doesnt Putin have any interest in peace? Why isnt he searching for an off ramp considering the threat of this escalating to a nuclear war?

There is no such thing as a “tactical” nuke. I think this is the sentiment of both our military and political establishments.
If Putin can wrangle his cronies and minions into launching a missile with a nuclear warhead, then all bets are off.
It is my fervent hope that we have the capability, and I think we do, to deliver a knockout punch to a society that has plagued modern civilization for 100+ years.
Putin has laid the groundwork for the use of a nuke in Ukraine. If he is indeed crazy enough to do it, then I hope we don’t stop until that bizarre nation is dismembered once and for all.

Considering that board is a haven for anti-Semitic tropes and has cheered Putin as some kind of defender of Christian Europe while he unleashes Muslim Chechen mercs to terrorize Ukraine, yes. Yes it was.

Key Takeaways
The Russian withdrawal from western Kherson Oblast has begun. Russian forces likely intend to continue that withdrawal over the next several weeks but may struggle to withdraw in good order if Ukrainian forces choose to attack.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is demonstrably setting conditions for Russia to continue a protracted war in Ukraine, not for a negotiated settlement or offramp.
Russian forces will likely attempt to blow up the dam at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) to cover their withdrawal from Kherson City and to prevent Ukrainian forces from pursuing Russian forces deeper into Kherson Oblast.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on October 21 creating a Russian government “coordination council” to improve wartime federal coordination.
Russian and Ukrainian sources reported fighting northeast of Kharkiv City along the international border, on the Svatove-Kreminna frontline, and west of Lysychansk.
Ukrainian military officials offered a limited overview of the situation on the frontline.
Ukraine’s Southern Operational Command emphasized that Russian forces are using Ukrainian civilians as human shields when transporting military equipment across the Dnipro River, while Russian sources released footage showing a line of civilians awaiting the ferry from Kherson City.
Russian forces continued ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast and routine fire west of Hulyaipole and in Mykolaiv Oblast.
Russian authorities are attempting to maintain the façade of sustainable and strong logistics in southern Ukraine while accelerating measures to compensate for the Kerch Strait Bridge attack.
Fissures between regional Russian officials, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and military commissariats, and the Russian civilian population from which mobilization draws will likely intensify in the coming months.
Russian authorities are preventing Ukrainians in Russia from leaving Russia with complex residency and permit requirements to cross international borders.
Russian occupation authorities continued the mass forced removal of civilians from the west bank of the Dnipro River under the guise of civilian “evacuations.”

If they blow the dam at Kakhovka isn’t that going to affect the water supply in Crimea? I guess the Russians could blame Ukraine and use it as propaganda points to be even more ruthless.
