There is an incredible amount of information available on this conflict, and it can be difficult to read through the fog of war especially colored by disinformation presented on both sides. That being said this particular situation re (at least some) conscript's personal equipment is a pretty well-settled fact.

And even if it’s bogus, the news that it’s circulating throughout Russia and is causing angst and distrust of the government is big news. If the folks back home believe it to be true, it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not.

I remember that a lot of what they told us during the Vietnam Nam war proved to be bogus. For instance the Tet Offensive crippled the Viet Cong, but folks here at hone were told we were soundly defeated. That really hurt politically.

and if those countries want to join nato due to past russian aggression....nato is supposed to say no? even though it would strength nato?

This is true. And this whole thing could have been avoided if NATO had honored their agreement of non-encroachment on former Eastern-bloc countries.

The whole thing could have been avoided if Russia would have stayed out of Ukraine in 2014.

FWIW I don't believe any reports from either side about who is winning.

I guess if you count Ukraine dragging the war out this long as winning then yea I guess.

You can not be as clueless and naive as many of your posts seem to indicate, I assume you just think you are smarter than everyone else.

Statements against interest can usually be assigned added veracity assuming you consider as many potential angles as possible. When the talking heads and Dumas members on Russian state TV make statements against the interest of Russia it is a fair judgment they are accurate or at least based on a real truth. There are tactical and strategic statements that could be intentional misdirection and it is slightly possible in the case of personal equipment for the conscripts. However, there is plenty of other corroborating evidence of multiple types indicating the inability of Russia to properly outfit the conscripts.

Any talk of who is “winning” is meaningless without defining what winning entails. Both sides have suffered massive losses and will be worse off because of this war than they would have been without the conflict (at least in the near term). Russia failed in its original objectives and has weakened itself massively on the world stage. It can’t win at this point, but only salvage something.

Ukraine is fighting for survival and continues to have an invader occupying and controlling substantial and key portions of its country. If it survives, it wins something crucial, but at a significant and lasting cost.

i meant as far as recapturing territory.

like i have said, no matter what happens in the end, nobody really wins.

not sure how this shite ends either because lets say the follwoing happens

1) ukraine continues to push and gains back all territory minus crimea

2) does ukraine not try and take crimea? maybe, maybe not. does russia just give up on regaining back territory it has annexed and considers russia now?

i mean where the frick does this end even if ukraine is winning? i mean where the frick is Putins off ramp?

at this point, the only ways i see this ending is a negotiated end by the west where russian gets crimea formally and nothing else(only way i see both sides agreeing) or Putin is killed/russia collapses completely.

i dont think russia without nukes can retake territory, i dont think russia just gives up, i dont really think ukraine can invade mother russia...so where the frick does it end?

and before some smart arse says...it ends when russia decides to leave a sovereign country....dont be a dumbass and live in the real world as russia is not just gonna say...oh we are going hime

Exactly my thoughts.

Like you said, Russia has already lost.
Ukraine can still win and its independence still be intact, but yes at a steep price.

I have a lot of friends who went off the deep end over the last 2 years and it was easier once I realized they’re not the same person anymore. It’s incredible how effective the division apparatus has been from foreign influence.

It’s becoming more and more prevalent. One poster just mentioned that they don’t trust any report, which is exactly one of the primary goals of a disinformation campaign.

My only O&G connections with Ukraine were to provide GTL plants in Russia funded by Ukrainian natural gas companies.

Yet that other dude claims that UKraine is bad because he knows a guy who married a Uke gal yet that guy is pro Uke and has said he has never seen any sign of Nazis in Ukraine.

Got it.

The result of a consistent and total substitution of lies for factual truth is not that the lie will now be accepted as truth, and truth be defamed as lie, but that the sense by which we take our bearings in the real world - and the category of truth versus falsehood is among the mental means to this end - is being destroyed.

Rybar on Twitter seems to have gone pure Russian propaganda the last week if not longer. Russia seems to keep destroying the same Ukrainian brigade over and over. Plus, Rybar is spouting pure bunk regarding various nations and how US harmed them. Venezuela is one for sure. Food for the nutters seems to be their new game.
