It's kind of scary if you think what could happen very quickly in the world...

Big Tech cuts a country like Russia off from Western Civilization then say it is to stop misinformation and not to support a brutal and villainous regime.

Only in reality it is to stop information from coming back and forth from two parties. It provides the west with one side that can be manipulated.

In addition, Media outlets have been consolidated under really five big companies that can provide a single narrative that can feed into propaganda.

Transparent wars can be a thing of the past that scares the shite out of me.

That's very true. It's a bad statement.

Governments are rarely truthful but I guess with all of the media outlets in the information age. I always thought that we would have lots of transparency. I suppose I am naive here.

I don’t believe any of the numbers being reported. If they really killed thousands of Russians there would be more video evidence of it.

[BBC News] The UK foreign secretary Liz Truss has said she would support Britons wanting to go to Ukraine to help it fight the Russian invasion.

quote:

In an interview on BBC One’s Sunday Morning programme, she replied “absolutely” when asked whether she would back anyone wanting to volunteer to help the Ukrainians fighting for their freedom.

She told the programme: “That is something people can make their own decisions about. The people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for Ukraine but for the whole of Europe.

“Absolutely, if people want to support that struggle I would support them in doing that.”

Until now there has been almost no evidence of foreigners going to Ukraine to join the battle against the Russian invasion. But on Sunday, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said he would be setting up an international legion for volunteers.

That doesn’t really mean anything. It’s a scare tactic from Putin.

Not to mention they’ve now reportedly agreed to talks in a non-neutral nation that was a staging ground for the invasion. Doesn’t exactly sound like they’re in a strong position.

Take this one with a grain of salt but interesting nonetheless...

This is apparently based on a unit of Spetsnaz (without any armor/heavy support (e.g. tanks)) getting destroyed

[Max Seddon, Moscow Bureau Chief @ Financial Times - Twitter] Chechnya's Ramzan Kadyrov says Russia's tactics in Ukraine aren't working.

"They're armed to the teeth with new weapony and ammunition, new generation heavy artillery, and we're still placing our hopes on the Ukrainians' coming to their senses."

I agree and think it’s a pretty good sign that things aren’t going as planned for Putin.

Stay strong, Ukraine.

Location for peace talks is now the border of Ukraine and Belarus. So not sure if that means like a Korea dmz type place or a city close to the border. So that may be a change. This will depend on what Ukraine agrees to to end hostilities.

Watching these live cams, how is it that looks like business as usual in cities like Lviv?

What do you guys expect? People still have to have the basic necessities in life for one so someone has to stock them grocery store, deliver food and supplies, etc. People are still going to work when possible to take their mind off the war if there is nothing they can do.

[CNN] Putin orders deterrence forces — which includes nuclear arms — to be put on high alert

quote:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered his country’s deterrence forces – which includes nuclear arms – be placed on high alert.

“Top officials in leading NATO countries have allowed themselves to make aggressive comments about our country, therefore I hereby order the minister of Defense and the chief of the General Staff [of the RF Armed Forces] to place the Russian Army Deterrence Force on combat alert,” Putin said in televised meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.

“Yes, sir,” replied Shoigu.

The Russian President also said the sanctions placed on Russia were unlawful.

According to state news agency RIA Novosti, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, the strategic forces "are designed to deter aggression against Russia and its allies, as well as to defeat the aggressor (inflicting defeat on him), including in a war with the use of nuclear weapons."

Most of the videos shown are in the cities, the reality is most of the fighting is likely in more rural areas where there are less civilians able to video.

I wonder if Turkey will exploit that to take more territory in Syria?

[The Guardian] The World Health Organisation is worried about supplies of medicinal oxygen to Ukraine warning the majority of hospitals could run out in 24 hours.

quote:

The director general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and WHO’s regional director for Europe, Dr Hans Kluge called for a safe passage for supplies, including via a logistics corridor through Poland.

They said: “Trucks are unable to transport oxygen supplies from plants to hospitals across the country, including the capital Kyiv. The majority of hospitals could exhaust their oxygen reserves within the next 24 hours. Some have already run out. This puts thousands of lives at risk.”

Russian has shot down an Ukranian drone. They supposedly only have 6 Turkish UAVs in total.

I think the UAVs have been doing work.
