The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated five more settlements in the Kherson region – OC “South”
12 October, 2022
During the counteroffensive in the Kherson region, the Defense Forces liberated five settlements of the Beryslav district from the invaders.
The Operational Command “South” reported this.
Ukrainian defenders liberated the settlements of Novovasylivka, Novohryhorivka, Nova Kamyanka, Tryfonivka, and Chervone.
Amazing that the Russian offensive has been mostly stopped in its' tracks outside of Bakhmut.

Hard to believe when Russians are leaving recognized Russian territory in droves. How do you suppose we’d get an accurate look at what those people want when much of that area has been occupied for 8 years and natives displaced?

OK but is rail traffic still crossing over the bridge? I don’t know the answer I’m legitimately asking.
No. The only evidence of the trains on the Crimean bridge since the attack are pictures and videos of the train that was damaged, pictures and videos of a rail based crane, and a video of a train passing a passing a rail station that may or may not be on the rail line to the Crimean Bridge.

Well if no rail traffic then advantage to Ukraine in anticipated Zap offensive

That's so nice of you to allow that the country that actually invaded another shares some of the responsibility.

You suck at this worse than Brian Kelly does at fitting in in the south

couldn't imagine agreeing with essentially threating Putin and sending a bunch of our money off to Ukraine to be backchanneled to the political elite and labelling all that as "good."
The good was living up to our pledge to Ukraine and help them to stop Russian imperialism. And the aid that we are sending in the form of weapons appear to be back-channeled up some Russian behinds. The good was to take action and not out American lives at risk. The good is making Russia pay dearly for making war on their neighbors this time.

On the question of how the bridge was blown up, Chuck Pfarrer asks the proper question for those who want to believe the truck bomb theory that Russia is pushing:
quote:
How did UKR insert operatives into RU, source multiple tons of high explosives, construct a VBIED, recruit a suicidal but reliable driver, and then expect to ‘bypass' security forces protecting a strategic bridge-- all under the nose of Putin's FSB?
On the truck bomb theory, I don't think you actually need a suicide driver. Just a guy that drove it across the bridge like every other truck. This only complicates the detonation event but could still be accomplished in several ways.
quote:
It's really impossible to believe. It's much easier to believe that we gave Ukraine a few ATACMS or they used the Grim missiles that they may have been producing.
I still am not convinced it was a truck bomb mainly because the explosion and the aftermath show me a bridge that was hit from below. Every picture I have seen looks like the road deck spans were lifted instead of pushed down. I know there is scorching on the asphalt but otherwise, it looks pristine. There is also the one (?) picture from below that shows no damage but that is just one section and I don't think it is from the section where the blast likely took place. The one thing that would change my mind is if the deck section that is underwater has major damage indicative of a downward explosion.
It may be a long time if ever before we know the actual mechanism used. Both sides may know but if Russia doesn't announce the correct method Ukraine may keep quiet on the chance that Russia really doesn't know and they may waste assets to prevent a method other than the one actually used and possibly leave the effective avenue open in the future.

so if Mexico invaded Texas, and Texas decided it wanted to be part of Mexico - by your logic, Washington should have no say?

The “voting process” must also be scrutinized.
When there are soldiers pointing machine guns at you, it isn’t considered a free and fair election.

I read that Bakhmut is a Wagner show and they're determined to succeed at all costs to show they can accomplish what they regular army can't.

As long as they have cover fire Engineers can make short work of those obstacles. The speed my operators could make lanes through even a full-sized tank ditch always blew me away.

I answered it.
How is your proposed resolution not the weakest of options for the administration whose weakness you partially blame for this war?

What if the Mexicans in Texas decide they would rather Texas be in Mexico, should we give Texas back? After all Texas used to be part of Mexico.

It was literally an uphill climb against well fortified positions from the beginning

I love how state TV dubs a woman's plaintive screech over several places in video that didn't have it. They also love showing how they blew up a pedestrian bridge which is clearly a dual-use target since Ukraine uses it to backpack in supplies to the frontline over 100 miles away.
