Just been busy lately. Wednesday, I will be flying to Ft. Benning to visit my grandkids. I probably won’t be posting much over the next week. Just got word that my SIL made the Major’s list and will be moving to Ft. Leavenworth sometime next year to go to Major School, that puts the Grands only 4 hours away, closest they have ever been. Yea!

It sounds like things are becoming difficult in Ukraine. Electricity infrastructure destroyed in many areas. May this awful war end rapidly to end the suffering of the people there. Healing can begin once the war is over.

The only thing these attacks by Russia accomplish militarily is the further drawdown of Russias already low stocks of weapons and causing terror inside of Ukraine. They don’t do anything to help Russia win the war.

Tonight, a Russian attack on a strategically important pedestrian bridge in the center of Kyiv. However, despite the efforts of Russians, the connection between the parks Khreshchatyy and Vladimiro kalva was not stopped.

When will Putin come out of his bunker in the Urals? Is he afraid of the long knives he knows are being sharpened?

Thwarting Russia is in SK's interest re: NK.

There is a reason NK is shooting missiles over Japan while Russia is being appeased.

Just like hitler bombing London during the Battle of Brittan. No at Regis military targets. Just civilian maybe helps moral at home but strengthens resolve in Ukraine.

The pattern over the last 30 years is that NK does not do anything, either ramp up or stand down, unless it is being paid cash, food or fuel. The question, which we will never know the answer to, is how much is Russia paying for the distraction.

It's just never going to happen. NK already has substantially more artillery than does SK. Korea is still technically at war and Kim Jon-un is too unpredictable.

In other news, seems like a great time to be doing this. Why won’t China cooperate with us on Russia?

LINK
quote:

The US Commerce Department on Friday unveiled sweeping regulations that limit the sale of semiconductors and chip-making equipment to Chinese customers, striking at the foundation of the country’s efforts to build its own chip industry.

quote:

Chinese state media and officials over the weekend raged against the action, warning of economic consequences and stirring speculation about potential retaliation. He Xiaopeng, the chairman and CEO of Chinese EV maker Xpeng Inc., warned last month that escalating US restrictions on chip exports will set back the nation’s autonomous driving sector.

The two countries are now officially in an “economic war,” Dylan Patel, chief analyst at SemiAnalysis, said. A Chinese analyst said there is “no possibility of reconciliation” any longer.

quote:

Reaction in China was furious. The nationalistic Global Times newspaper warned the “savage attack on free trade” would have dire consequences for the US.

“Only arrogant and ignorant people can truly believe that the US can block the development of China’s semiconductor or other technology industries by these illegitimate means,” it said in an editorial. “The US hegemony in science and technology that harms others without benefiting itself may bring some short-term difficulties to China’s semiconductor industry, but will in turn strengthen China’s will and ability to stand on its own in science and technology.”

Always curious about how many missiles Ukraine actually shoots down. According to Ukrainian military 83 Rockets were fired & 45 shot down.

Sounds like a good policy to me. We need to expand our chip building industry, not sell the technology to China to assist them in cornering the market.

If China and Taiwan are the only manufacturers of microchips, then the economic value of a takeover of Taiwan goes way up. However, if the US develops that infrastructure here, then China doesn’t take over the technology world by invading Taiwan.

Sounds like a good long term strategy that will reduce tensions as a balanced supply chain is developed.

China is backing itself into a corner while facing economic depression. They are risking a serious devolution of their standing and power in the world if shite goes get bad there and they've pissed off everyone they need to maintain.

Don’t disagree with any of that. Would have been a good policy to implement ten years ago but today, the US and its proxies are already in an economic war with Russia. China, to date, is buying energy from Russia but has remained basically neutral. The US could reasonably be said to have just declared economic war on China with these regs. China has basically said that is how they interpret this. Can only incentivize China to get off the sidelines in the economic war between the US and Russia.
