Sorry to burst your bubble Girkin but Ukraine has already realized how weak the Russian army is right now hence the huge advance in all sectors.

Borova is important as it cleans up the flank and gives Ukraine control north to south along the river.
Ukraine will now move directly east towards Svatove

I don't think that really matters much, as I expect the Ukrainians to push east from the Davydiv Brid bridgehead while this grouping moves west to link up. All those Russian forces in between will retreat south to avoid encirclement (or maybe they won't, as we saw in Lyman).

I am taking this picture down since it includes a picture from 2013.

I'd think that those were a bunch of extras from the 1917 movie, only some of them are too fat.

That guy in the front of the bottom pictures has a FML look on his face.

From what I'm reading, I don't think that Russia is going to put up much of a fight at Svatove -- I don't think that they can.
Once that happens, it'll only be a few days before Ukraine can cut the roads and tracks south of Starobilsk.
In northeastern Ukraine, it's only going to be a few weeks before Russia will be back to the February 24th lines.

well, that is because the borders of the area Russia "controls" in the region is changing daily. you an only attempt to claim something is yours if you can control and hold that area.

I think we should keep a close eye on the weather and as the temps drop and winter moves in, how effective can Ukraine continue to be?

Lows in the mid 40s now and for next seven days.
I wonder when the really cold stuff comes.

The other option would be to say that Ukraine has been conquering Russian territory, but that's not something they want to do because it would be humiliating to them to their public and might pressure them to escalate to save face (but which would probably make things militarily worse for them).

Russia's new modern uniforms
Good Lord, did they invent a time machine and go grab a unit from 1915?

I think we, and especially the Russians, will be very surprised at the Ukes’ winter effectiveness. They will be far better equipped than they were back in February.
The Orcs, otoh, will still be freezing because of inadequate uniforms and will have no place to warm up. I’m sure Finland and Sweden will offer cold-weather training to the Ukes.

This sparked a thought. If all the residents of the Donbas, Zaporhyzia and Kherson oblasts are now Russian citizens, can Ukraine simply deport the separatists in Luhansk and Donestk to Russia when the war is over and naturalize those who want to remain? Seems like a logical and permanent solution to the Donbas problem. .

As some military experts are saying we are watching one of the great operational level campaigns in modern warfare.
Strategy is the big goal, we want to conquer Absurdistan by seizing its major cities. Tactical is small stuff, we want to take this ridge that oversees these enemy forces so we can force them out of this position. Operations is how you get from one to the other.
The Ukraine military spent months talking up the major counteroffensive in the South around Kherson. Russia rushes reinforcements into the area, which is hard to supply because it is across a major river. Then the Ukrainian military pulls a whoopsy doodly doo and hits the Russians in the depleted Northern sector. Meanwhile they've got Russia still pouring troops into an area that they can effortlessly interdict.
It is the play action pass of warfare, we show you this, we show you this, and when you bite on that hook we give you this instead.

Hey Slim, how do you know? I cut the bottom image out and searched for it via google image search and couldn't find any previous record of it.
If it's an earlier picture, I'll pull down the post.

UK Daily Mail is reporting Russia is moving equipment towards the front line that it needs to conduct tactical nuclear warfare. We'll see if this is a bluff? I'd recommend they keep Biden infused with his vitamins needed to keep his pep up to navigate this.
