I kinda agree with that, but the flip side is that Biden has carefully led France, Germany, and most of Europe into providing weapons to Ukraine.
If Biden had done as you suggest, France and Germany might have become indignant, and European anger about high gas prices might be more widespread. It might have meant the loss of a unified European policy.
The careful approach kept Scholz and Macron on board.

Screw Ukraine! Or at least the the top of the chain of Ukraine. Anyone know the history behind this? After Bush 1 had Gobechev sign an agreement to dissolve the Warsaw Pact, NATO would not add anymore countries. What happened. We/NATO lied. Putin kept warning them don’t inch closer. Never happened. In fact, one of the few documents NATO and Russia did sign, the NATO/Russia Founding Act explicitly stated that NATO reserved the right to expand as it saw fit.

Setting aside the question of if Biden being elected or Biden boofing the Afghan exit is a proximate cause, I give him and his admin pretty high marks in the response. Telling the world what would happen in February and opening the intelligence was a great move. And although I personally would have liked to see a more muscular US response early as WeeWee said, I agree with GOP that this moment requires coalition building and Biden has the whole EU largely talking with one voice. That wasn’t a given when this started.
It’s a really tricky thing to navigate an European land war and all in all I think Biden and the US has mostly shined.

There was a pipeline from Saudi Arabia already but for crude oil. Saudi Arabia is not going to allow a pipeline from Qatar to go through its territory. They are NOT friends and Libya ended up being a proxy war between the two after Qaddafi was killed. Dumbest move ever was backing the rebels in Libya without any plan for after its leader was gone.
