Sorry about that, I plead guilty to being a child of journalists/English prof and so when you quoted it there I felt compelled to re-read to make sure there's subject-verb agreement and all the clauses still work.
I just googled and it looks like Faulkner had a 1287-word sentence in Absalom, Absalom (longest in the English language according to this source), so I'll just have to do better next time.

Russia disintegrating would be a disaster for everyone
The only way Russia disintegrates is if WW3 breaks out and Russia is forced into an unconditional surrender. Since that I highly unlikely then I do not believe that we need to worry about Russia disintegrating.
Plus if Russia pisses off Europe too much it could permanently lose access to the European O&G markets. It would then be dependent on natural gas exports to China to keep its economy afloat. At that point China could practically dictate the price and terms of any energy deal between the 2 countries which would benefit China big time.

If Russia escalates this by "annexing" part of Ukraine, undertaking a mobilization, and declaring war, I think the US will respond, at a minimum, by supplying ATACMS to the Ukrainians.
If Belarus, starts to become an active participant, I believe Poland will come off the sidelines.
From a worldview perspective, this is entering the most dangerous phase so far.
Yeah then things get potentially messy. Idk what Poland will do, but if they choose to join the fray I expect they’d have a lot of success, but also brings risk of missile launches in their direction. Whether intercepted or not, that’s an article 5 call I think. Stupid move for Russia and Belarus, but this “special operation” has had plenty of those on their behalf.

What I mean is not Russia itself, but all its puppet states breaking away.

Isw update
quote:
Russian-appointed occupation officials in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia oblasts announced on September 20 that they will hold a “referendum” on acceding to Russia, with a vote taking place from September 23-27.
quote:
The Kremlin’s annexation plans are primarily targeting a domestic audience; Putin likely hopes to improve Russian force generation capabilities by calling on the Russian people to volunteer for a war to “defend” newly claimed Russian territory.
quote:
Putin may believe that he can appeal to Russian ethnonationalism and the defense of purportedly “Russian peoples” and claimed Russian land to generate additional volunteer forces.
quote:
The law notably does not order full-scale mobilization or broader conscription or make any preparations for such activities.
quote:
ISW has observed no evidence that the Kremlin is imminently intending to change its conscription practices. The Kremlin’s new law is about strengthening the Kremlin’s coercive volunteerism, or what Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov called “self-mobilization.”
quote:
Putin’s illegal annexation of occupied Ukrainian territory will broaden the domestic legal definition of “Russian” territory under Russian law, enabling the Russian military to legally and openly deploy conscripts already in the Russian military to fight in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Russian-appointed occupation officials in Kherson and Zaporizhia oblasts announced the formation of “volunteer” units to fight with the Russian military against Ukraine.
quote:
The Russian State Duma separately passed new incentives for foreign nationals to fight in Russia’s military to obtain Russian citizenship and will likely increase overseas recruitment accordingly
quote:
Putin’s appeals to nationalism may generate small increases in volunteer recruitment from within Russia and parts of occupied Donetsk and Luhansk
quote:
Local Russian administrators will continue to attempt to form volunteer units, with decreasing effect, as ISW has previously reported and mapped.[10]
Russian forces and the Wagner Private Military Company are also directly recruiting from Russian prisons, as ISW has previously reported
quote:
Putin likely hopes that increasing self-mobilization, and cracking down on unwilling Russian forces, will enable him to take the rest of Donetsk and defend Russian-occupied parts of Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia oblasts. He is mistaken.
quote:
Russian President Vladimir Putin likely also intends to deter Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensives by annexing occupied Ukrainian territory and framing Ukrainian attempts to liberate occupied territory as attacks on Russia

Key Takeaways
Russian-appointed occupation officials in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia oblasts announced on September 20 that they will hold a “referendum” on acceding to Russia, with a vote taking place from September 23-27.
The Kremlin’s annexation plans are primarily targeting a domestic audience; Putin likely intends to improve Russian force generation capabilities by calling on the Russian people to volunteer for a war ostensibly to defend newly-claimed Russian territory.
Ukrainian forces continued disrupting ongoing Russian efforts to reestablish ground lines of communications (GLOCs) across the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast.
Russian forces are likely targeting Ukrainian hydrotechnical infrastructure in Kharkiv and Luhansk oblasts to threaten Ukrainian positions along the Siverskyi Donets River.
Russian forces conducted ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast on September 20.
Russian forces did not conduct any confirmed ground attacks west of Hulyaipole on September 20 and continued routine artillery strikes throughout Zaporizhia Oblast.
Russian forces continue to degrade their force generation capabilities by cannibalizing training elements to fight in combat formations in Ukraine.

Not even close. Much of what was given is out of storage, some of it deep storage. Also, lend lease deal. Even HIMARS is scheduled to be phased out. Heck, we have even given HARMS which are a decade past expiration date.

Let me guess the rest of the speech:
1) National destiny. Lenin. Peter the Great. Ukrainians are Russians. Blah. Blah. Western subversion of history.
2) We must defend Ukraine from the neo-Nazis!
3) NATO is crossing our red lines!
4) We will use our nukes to defend the motherland!
5) I'm very serious!

I wonder how much time Putin has left on Earth. Honestly, the best approach might be to let his military drink themselves to death in the Donbas during winter and let Putin's cancer do the world a solid.
I know there are other megalomaniacs who might take over Russia. However, there's a good chance the next Russian leaders would prefer keeping their yachts, their vacation homes, and their childrens' access to prestigious Western boarding schools and universities.
