Speaking of literally, Russia's military performance has been so bad it's almost sad.
Russia's military prowess is/was way overrated.

What Russia did was take out a potential competitor for the European natural gas market. Shell's concessions were Donbas. The rest cancelled due instability in UKR. I cannot say that I blame them, since no one in the West was actually supporting them other than cursory gestures against Russia.
Russia is NOT a low cost producer of anything. They pay dearly to drill, complete and get to market. This in spite of not giving a crap about waste with leaking pipelines, oil lakes near wells in Siberia (from blowouts) and constant flaring at oil wells (it is too expensive to lay a pipeline to capture the smaller amount of natural gas).

They’ve literally gained the most economical regions of the Ukraine. Kiev and Lviv offer nothing but proxy wars and NATO fuel.
This is not true. This isn't the 1800s man. Kiev and the surrounding areas produce most of Ukraine's GDP.

And yet we have to keep sending billions after billions of dollars and weapons just so Ukraine can try and compete. If Russia is such a joke why do we have to send anything.

I know right, imagine if it were troops using this gear and tech that had been trained years on it, this thing would have been over months ago.
No one thinks Ukraine as some great military, but I do think we are all shocked it only took some military equipment and aid to put them on a level playing field with Russia, crazy!

We are living up our promise to protect their sovereignty. Ukraine knew that without nukes they were at risk. They were correct.
And Russia has been a joke. If our military had gone into Kuwait and not thrown the Iraqis out, I would have been shocked. I’ve been shocked that Russia with their mighty army and Air Force didn’t toll over Ukraine in six weeks.
But like I said, I am a little slow, and you already knew that Russia was a paper bear.

USA & UK failed the Ukrainians in 2014.
Cowards running the USA and UK at that time.

This is true, which is why the US and UK are sticking to their guns now. They both realize they failed by not reacting in 2014.

All of Europe wussed out in 2014, along with the USA

Military technology is a formidable opponent.
During my time serving, the unit I was assigned to was a squadron of F15C models. We went to Nellis to participate in some training. During one of the days our our F15's (6) went up against 2 F22's. They all got smoked before the F15's even could engage. This is just our Air tech.
I have ZERO doubts about everything else we have developed.

Report that Germany is over 80% full on natural gas storage. Why don't journalists ever consider that Norway is a major producer?

BTW for what it’s worth. Those of you who are saying that the USA and NATO are using this as an opportunity to learn how to fight Russia and countries supplied and trained by Russia are 100% correct.
If the Russians were moderately competent, they would be doing the same - gathering data on our systems.
I suspect we are doing a better job on gathering information - signals, EW, tactics etc - than they are.

Don’t tell OML that. According to him all of Western Europe will be freezing to death in 3 months.

Yes it would be nice to get a coherent answer from the experts in this thread

everyone calling russia's military a joke is comparing it to ours, not a smaller state like Ukraine. and that's obviously correct after their performance in the last 6 months. we would clearly wipe the floor with them in a conventional war. but you know that.
and hell, their performance against a weaker, lesser armed Ukraine really hasn't done anything to make that accusation seem incorrect, either. 72 hours, right?

Are you sure he wasn't a German oil oligarch?
Posted on 9/1/22 at 6:39 pm to OMLandshark
Yeah, there's no history of Putin poisoning political enemies or roadblocks.

Well thought I’d do an olive branch to the thread.

I for one hope he’s right. Europe sucks balls.
