Just because one doesn’t like or agree with Russia’s reasons for the invasion doesn’t mean those reasons aren’t valid to Russia or Putin himself. It’s possible to acknowledge and recognize Russia’s reasoning without agreeing with them.

So, by that logic, it’s okay for some to recognize the logic of a rapist, so long as you don’t agree with them?

I mean, so long as the logic is valid to the rapist, right?

If goldennugget and Leclerc were banned from this thread we might could have a real discussion.

Ukraine was a dirty player in the corrupt global geopolitical stage. They decided to allow utter blatant corruption and money laundering to occur within their borders.

Then why not come out and say that and expose everything to everyone for what it is. Hell, maybe even use it as an excuse to invade Ukraine? Instead Putin went with...Nazis...

I'm aware that Ukraine and our government has a corrupted relationship. Doesn't mean I want to see their citizens slaughtered at the hand of Putin.

I think we [the west] are really close to kicking Russia off SWIFT.

Germany is the last hold out but is still open to it. They rely heavily on Russian Oil more so than any other EU country.

Also, from my understanding, if you remove them off SWIFT then folks can't get any Russian debt that is coming back to them.

The sad thing is that if we hadn’t expanded NATO, Putin would have tirelessly devoted himself to world peace and the brotherhood of man. Poor, misunderstood Vlad

Germany has authorized the Netherlands to send Ukraine 400 rocket-propelled grenade launchers to aid in the fight against Russian invaders, according to two EU officials — marking an abrupt shift in Berlin’s military policy amid pressure from EU and NATO allies. Until Saturday, Germany had clung to a longstanding practice of not permitting lethal weapons that it controlled to be transferred into a conflict zone. That stance bewildered some European officials, even more so after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a full-scale invasion and launched missile strikes on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital.

It would make them extremely dangerous. That's pretty much a "crossing the Rubicon" moment

is it so hard to just talk about the conflict at hand without trying to impose your thoughts and beliefs about corruption or puppets

The crazy part is that I believe the Germans said they would support that option which is absolutely mind blowing

A number of world leaders and critics have called on the United States and the European Union to remove Russia from SWIFT, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication.

What is SWIFT?
The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication began in 1973 as a way to allow more than 11,000 financial institutions to send messages and payment orders in a secure way, according to CNN.

“With no globally accepted alternative, it is essential plumbing for global finance,” CNN reports.
SWIFT is “a high security messaging network that connects thousands of financial institutions around the world,” according to CNN.
The National Bank of Belgium has teamed with the U.S. Federal Reserve System, the Bank of England and the European Central Bank to oversee the banks, according to NBC News.

What would happen if Russia got kicked out of SWIFT?
“The move could cut Russia off from most international financial transactions, including profits from oil and gas production, which account for more than 40% of the country’s revenue,” according to NBC News.
