How do you know?
Because I described a scenario in which the threat of Russian security concerns, and not actual security concerns (which is the difference between this and the Cuban Missile Crisis) has gotten them far more than they could have originally hoped for. What is going to rein in their behavior?
quote:
I’m just saying they understand the ramifications of nuclear war.
Do they? Putin is so genocidal that he would bomb a NATO member and is so thoughtful that he can think through the ramifications of nuclear war? Wow, truly he is a Renaissance man.
quote:
We’ve just been lied to about so many wars in the past justifying them for false reasons I just can’t trust them at all.
But there is nothing to lie about here. Russia actually invaded Ukraine. That's the cause of the conflict. Your brain has been completely broken if you can't differentiate between different situations.
quote:
They’re the boy who cried wolf. Maybe this time it is an actual wolf, but I’m not leaving the house to go check it out anymore.
Brother, oh come off it. You've done nothing. I was insulted too for not supporting the Iraq War. I was largely right about reaction to it. That isn't meaningful in this discussion, because they are distinct events. The relationship between the two exists because you are desperate to make an equivocation where none actually exists. You might be as paranoid as Putin.

I don’t know how the average Russian is doing right now and neither do you.
You truly live in a weird La La Land.
quote:
Because it’s same lie that they’ve used to trick the public over and over again to supporting a war. Hey, maybe it’s the wolf this time, but I’m done with this bullshite. Carlin put it best on my viewpoint:
Cool another meme.
quote:
We’d cross that path when we get to it. In the meantime the trajectory we’re on I can’t imagine that being any worse than what we’ll likely be dealing with in 3 months.
Yeah man, relying on Russia good-faith participation in free markets is a winning strategy long-term. Things can always get worse than you can imagine. It's just that you only care about what you imagine, with no reference to reality. It's this weird solipsistic argument you keep making and you make it repeatedly, all the time. Honestly the justification that because you were lied to by your government about things allows for the epistemological position that everything they do is bad is the moral logic of an infant. It's a very fatalistic position and also incredibly emotional. It's like you have a personality disorder, but the gayest one.

Killed by Russian mercenaries who were so incompetent they shot down a civilian airplane.

quote:You're welcome.
For more than a month, a Russian field headquarters not far from here was frustratingly beyond the range of Lt. Valentyn Koval’s Soviet-era artillery battery, he said. That changed last week, when Lt. Koval’s unit got a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or Himars.
Under cover of darkness, his unit drove the truck-mounted rocket launcher into position, punched in coordinates and pressed the launch button. Six 200-pound rockets slammed into the Russian position, largely destroying it, said Lt. Koval, who commands two Himars batteries.
The Russian base was one of about 10 high-value positions Lt. Koval says Ukraine has hit in the two weeks since taking charge of the systems, the most sophisticated weaponry Washington has supplied to Ukraine since Russia invaded in February.
Maybe not tide turning , but the Ukrainian arsenal is improving.

That’s still not definite as you’re suggesting.
The point is that it isn't definite. That's why I said it is malleable. Just like you are using the fact that the USG lied about the Iraq War as a justification to not believe anything at all, I'm using how Russia has actually behaved in international politics to form mine. Arguably, the Russian security state is completely unchanged from the Cold War and their active measures in espionage support that point, as they haven't ceased treating the US as an enemy at any point. Their extraterritorial operations in that theater aren't meaningful to you, nor is the net accumulation of all their behavior. You want to give them a pass based on nothing.

The threat of nuclear holocaust.
My naïve man. Your naivety recalls this scene from a show that is actually quotable. LINK
quote:
Has he bombed a member of NATO? No he hasn’t, so until then, we should assume he won’t do that rather than escalate the situation at hand like the warmongers on here are desperate to do.
Okay man.
quote:
Oh please, go look up the Gulf of Tonkin incident and get back to me. Or hell Operation Barbarossa. shite like this has happened multiple times. Biden has a very vested personal interest in Ukraine.
Yeah man, I think I'm pretty well-versed, probably more than most, on international relations. But what are you referring to with Barbarossa?
quote:
You can’t trust anything coming out of their mouth.
Why would you take any politician says at face value? You understand that politics is not about what you say, but how you act?
quote:
It’s happened repeatedly. You better be damn sure to get your facts right before you provoke an incident that could lead to World War III.
Man, the calculus, based on Russian actions, is that this is the incident that can provoke WWIII. You would be wise to actually read your own words for once.

Russians slaughtered in Syria
This is why Russia won't hit our AWACS, spy planes, or retaliate for us providing material support to Ukraine.
They got a taste of combined arms tactics and know they are inferior on the battlefield with the USA.

The difference here is we are not trying to lead you by your leash but to open your eyes to what put your collar on you in the first place.
And no one holds a candle to be rigid with their opinions then the posters on here that say you support Putin if you're not blowing Ukraine.

I see now. Seemed like you were trying to pin that one one on us or something. But that still seems to go against whatever it is you're trying to argue.

The fact they staged that Poland invaded them first.
Are you referring to the Gleiwitz Incident? That wasn't Barbarossa. That was part of Operation Himmler before the German Invasion of Poland.
quote:
Then we have in this situation Ghost of Kiev and the snake island BS. I am very apprehensive on anything I’m told going on in Ukraine.
Why the hell would you be apprehensive about anything? They are just pieces of propaganda. It's not all that insidious given that its a feature of literally every war in the modern period.
quote:
The only politician I take them at their word is Rand Paul. Couldn’t toss as far as I can throw them with the others.
I wouldn't take any at their word, thankfully. Actions are always more important, and the Russians have made it clear through theirs that nothing will really appease them.

It’s very obvious OML has never served in the military. You sure do talk a big game though. I’m glad I was a small part in helping to allow you to have the freedom to talk your bullshite. The only good Russian is a dead Russian, period. You and the people like you have made this thread unreadable. Congratulations.
