I understand all this, but there may come a point where Putin says "frick it all" and do something insane and dramatically escalate it. This has been a chief concern of mine from the beginning, but anyone who brings this up is downvoted into an oblivion on this board.

If Putin would be willing to do this it's a matter of time before he does it anyway. Appeasing a thug to avoid pissing him off only encourages his thuggish behavior. If this war escalates it will be Putin's deliberate choice, not because we provoked him into it.

ETA we can stop him now, or broker some sort of halfassed ceasefire and give him time to rebuild another ramshackle army. In a year or two he launches his shittastic military again and it works again because the west is scared of escalation. Now he's on the border of Poland, who are very capable of defending themselves. But theyre getting pressure from the French and Germans who are wetting their pants because Putin or whoever follows him is rattling the nuclear sabre again. Meanwhile in Scandinavia and the Baltics they're reconsidering this whole NATO thing because nobody has the balls to actually stand up to Russia in a meaningful way.

See how this works?

Wasn’t the Azov battalion destroyed in Mauripol?

The Azov battalion is bigger than a battallion and is spread all over Ukraine. As best I can tell it's a parallel military force under operational control of the Ukrainian army

In your opinion.

There is no "right" side of history, there is only the winning side. History is written by the victors.

Weird

quote:

Ukraine's parliament just fired human rights ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova. MPs claimed her work focusing on the rape of Ukrainians by Russian troops which "couldn't be confirmed with evidence [...] only harmed Ukraine and distracted the global media from Ukraine's real needs."

quote:

238 MPs voted her out. Other complaints were that Denisova had failed to organize humanitarian corridors and POW exchanges, and that she had spent time in "warm Western Europe" during the invasion "but not in Russia or Belarus, where her status and powers could help prisoners."

??Russia’s Gazprom halts gas supplies to Denmark’s Orsted, Germany via Shell deal.

Russian energy giant Gazprom has halted flows to Denmark’s Orsted and to Shell Energy Europe Limited for its contract to supply gas to Germany, after companies refused to make payments in rubles.

Proving rape and other war crimes committed by Russia would help Ukraine get what it needs. Sounds like she was comped and they dropped her like a poorly trained Russian.

So Gasprom breached its contracts that specified payment in dollars or euros and further breached its delivery obligations. Typical Russian behavior.

Assuming Ukraine wins (very much an assumption), what happens afterwords with the Azov?

You keep posting about this Azov, and keep insisting that they are “nazi.” If there is a common trait of nazis and fascists, it is that they scapegoat some particular clearly identifiable group(s) or nationality as a target for all problems, and focus the anger of the mob. If these Azov are nazis, who do they hate? Is it Russians, who have been invading their country since 2014? Or is it someone else?

The word Nazi is often thrown around as a negative term for a political or intellectual enemy without respect to the original meaning as we would have understood the third reich. It can be used with the same lack of accuracy or precision that other words like communist or racist are also currently being used.

That doesn't preclude actual Nazis existing in Ukraine but I would be extremely cautious about taking this type of thing at face value from an American perspective.

We are so glad that you are a follower of left wing media for the last several years as well as Putain's various internet outlets

They sound like Russians (or typical poliboard posters), except that they hate Russians who are invading their country. And from the best that I can figure out, it's the hating invading Russians part that makes them the focus of the attack here.

The Dutch can start producing from its 100 Trillion cubic feet remaining in its largest gas field.

BTW, Denmark's NET exports are double its imports of natural gas.

What happens to Putain if he cuts off his cash cow nations and over 50% of Russia's economy? The producing wells will sand up ad have to be reworked which could take a decade like it did in the 1990's.
