I think y’all are getting a little carried away here

The Chinese hate Japan and would love to turn that nation into glass if they could get away with it, but you’re wrong. The prize they’re after is Taiwan. I had Chinese friends that fricking hated the CCP, and even they were adamant that Taiwan was a province and not a country. They don’t want to destroy Taiwan, they think they just rightfully own it.

So we know what happens if Russia steps foot in Poland but is Article 5 also triggered if China attacks a US military base in Taiwan?

More propaganda.

It's clear what is going on - the State Department is aligned with Big Tech right now pushing a coordinated propaganda campaign to get Americans to feel bad for Ukraine and sympathize with them. This way, when the inevitable eventual deployment of US troops to Ukraine to fight a ground war happens, Americans will be supportive of putting boots on the ground because they've been programmed to feel bad for Ukraine and want justice for those attacking them.

What WMDs in Iraq was in 2003, so is feeling bad for Ukraine in 2022. Both are the justifications for war on the other side of the world and spending billions of taxpayer dollars on said war.

Not saying what is happening to Ukraine isn't bad, but see the forest for the trees. Lighting up Downtown Dallas in Blue/Yellow, all these social media STAND WITH UKRAINE posts, Twitter posts featuring clearly staged photos of Ukraine politicians in uniform ready for battle, and so on are all coordinated

I can't believe Biden is going to fricking Delaware in the middle of this shite storm. Maybe he needs to be removed from power due to incompetence and callousness towards Ukraine.

He is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things right now.

What the US State Department is focused on right now is generating as much sympathy in not just the US, but across western civilization for Ukraine. When American boots are put on the ground, they want full support of that, not opposition.

The American military industrial complex remains unbeaten. It’s been like 6 months since we haven’t been at war.

You're nuts if you think that will happen. I think the most we'll do is maybe enforce a no-fly zone over the major cities and non-seperatist areas.

No. Taiwan has nothing to do with NATO Article 5. That would basically be an act of war against the US though.

"an attack on 1 is an attack on all" is pretty cut & dry

if China attacks a US military base... that clearly would trigger Article 5

Which would trigger Article 5. Saying just because it's not in Europe so it's not under Article 5 is like saying because it's in Eastern Europe it doesn't matter to the US. Or is it limited only to Europe?

And North America.

quote:

Article 5

“The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Thanks RT. That's exactly what I was getting at. My only question was because it's on the opposite side of the world from NATO.

Besides being an utterly ridiculous thing for them to do, then the least of their concerns would be the rest of NATO, as I would SURELY hope that we would be handing out our own arse-kickings in that scenario.

I have a funny story about getting shite-faced in Hong Kong and standing-up in a speed boat to Macau and singing the national anthem while passing a U.S. Naval vessel in the Taiwan Strait.

Good times...

With a counter insurgency starting, Ukraine is going to be another Afghanistan for Russia isn't it?

ETA: I really wish Loesch had went back to her mommy blog after the NRA TV gig blew up in her face. Not the time to take shots at the anti-gun idiots here by using Ukrainians taking up arms as an argument.
