50 roubles says OML couldn't find Taiwan on a map.
How much is the ruble now, because you owe me.
1 RUB = 0.015 USD
So I owe you $0.77

I'd rather the bet have been a beer then
In my defense I thought the rouble had rallied so that 50 RUB was worth $1.

While now it's a central reason you don't elect a guy whose crackhead son is indebted and corrupted by Ukrainian oligarchs,
As opposed to the crackhead Republican sons who are indebted to corrupt oligarchs across the globe?
Potato Biden doesn't have a monopoly on that one. Not in the least.

While you jack off to Ukrainian deaths because a Democrat happens to be in office. You'd be cheerleading this shite harder than any of us if Trump was in office.

An invasion of Taiwan is much, much more difficult than invading Ukraine, even with a more competent army than Russia. At a minimum, it's estimated the initial amphibious landing force would have to be at a minimum 4 times the size of the Allied forces that landed in D-Day, and possibly as high as 10 times. Plus the beaches are nowhere near as preferable landing almost anywhere on the island compared to say Normandy.
Isn't it like an 8-hour boat ride? That is a long time for the US Navy and air Force to target your craft......
Can I assume the Korean defenses are bristling with land to Air/Sea missiles?

I've said save for his rhetoric and giving them $40 billion dollars that I don't think he's made any major mistakes in this crisis. Save for maybe the later, I don't see where we're disagreeing here.
1. Sending over his administration's worst negotiator (VP Harris) to Europe before the invasion to negotiate with Russia.
2. Letting China know that the west knew what Russia's plans were before the invasion.
3. Waiting until after Russia invaded to start moving weapons to Europe. I can see the merit in not giving the weapons to Ukraine until after seeing if the Ukrainians would fight or not, but the USA should at least had the aid in Europe. It should not have taken 82 days for the Mi8s and Mi17s to be transported from Arizona to Ukraine.
4. Trying to convince Zelinski to leave and start a government in exile on the night of the invasion.
5. Turning down the Polish offer to give their Migs to Ukraine.
6. Letting it become public knowledge that we turned down Poland's offer.
7. Not having MREs and tents and other stuff set up to ship to Poland to help with the humanitarian crisis. US intelligence knew the size and scope of the invasion so they should have known that Poland and Bulgaria were going to get swamped with refugees.
Those are mistakes that President Biden made. They are not even political mistakes or ideological mistakes that could be argued by people with different viewpoints. Those are just lapses in judgement that the President of the United States made that I can think of off the top of my head.

Any news from the Eastern front?

Well it's the crown jewel and the most important island in the world right now.
China attacking Taiwan doesn’t guarantee WWIII, albeit somewhat likely. An attack on Hawaii or England DOES guarantee WWIII. Taiwan isn’t the most important island in the world. We agree it is important, even for the same reasons (semiconductors), but it’s not most important for your overarching concern: WWIII.

And then even if successful, they've got to worry about the Taiwanese sabotaging their hardware and infrastructure on the way out the door as a "frick you" to both China and the West. They'd also likely be fighting guerrilla warfare in the mountains for years since they have a shite ton of bunkers up there. Not to mention Taiwanese people that don't flee not going down easily in a similar manner we're seeing in Ukraine.
It would be the single most difficult invasion in human history despite Taiwan's size, and given what Russia has just done, I expect the CCP is going back to the drawing board. There's no way an invasion of that magnitude could be hidden from the world or be a surprise. So I think Taiwan is now safe through say 2027. So I'm quite a bit more calm when it comes to this now, which I'm sure y'all will be glad to hear.
Which makes it more likely to be a repeat of actions on the Ukrainian war vs WWIII.
