We literally convinced Ukraine to give up their nukes, a significant number, in promise to protect them from what’s happening now.
So many people ignore this, either out of ignorance, or sheer hubris.
Which makes the invasion by Russia all the more egregious. The Ukrainians bargained in good faith....and they got shite on for it.

To be fair, he said he spent multiple years in Hong Kong, and based on his responses, I believe him. I think he's just very, very jaded....and his focus on Taiwan makes sense with him having lived in Hong Kong.

Ask me how I know that you did not buy stock in Raytheon Technologies back in January and February?

He seems a little unhinged to me, but I'm just a doctor so what do I know?

He's hysterical about everything. It's like he's splitting but about geopolitics. Maybe he does it in his personal life too.

I'm not saying he's not unhinged. I'm just saying I understand why he would be.

But if he can sew why we should protect Taiwan, which outside of semiconductors is arguably less significant on a global scale, why can't he see the reasons to protect Ukraine?
(ETA I might be missing other major global industries from Taiwan so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I just meant globally a shortage of sunflower oil, fertilizer and wheat is much much more significant than a shortage of semiconductors)

Every major defense contractor even remotely aligned with ATGM and other ground based systems are masturbating themselves to death over what's going on in Ukraine.
That war is the greatest sales pitch for western weaponry in the history of ever.

Because Biden also thinks we should protect Ukraine.
It's hyperpartisan politics at its finest.
Some of us can think Biden is a potato and hate his domestic policies, yet grudgingly agree his response on Ukraine has been pretty good. Others must fight against the potato at all costs, even to the detriment of global stability. Usually because their experience outside the US is Fox News. OML is a rare case of someone who is very well traveled that still retains a bit of the need to oppose Biden because he's a democrat, even when he's stumbled across the right plan.

An invasion of Taiwan is much, much more difficult than invading Ukraine, even with a more competent army than Russia. At a minimum, it's estimated the initial amphibious landing force would have to be at a minimum 4 times the size of the Allied forces that landed in D-Day, and possibly as high as 10 times.
Didn't I tell you this the last time Taiwan came up?
