So, nearly $3,000 has been refunded? Give or take?
Yeah, the highest I saw it was $23,345.
It isn't dropping as rapidly as they implied, so I think they'll still end up with plenty of money, but certainly lots of folks have gotten refunds.
I got my refund within 30 minutes of requesting it, but that was Friday morning when things were not quite as blown up as they are now. I requested it because I didn't want to contribute to someone's possible death, but now there are numerous reasons to want a refund.

He can keep my money. Despite the incoherent rambling and inability to accept help with grace, I think the need and core story are real. I hope the money is used somewhere productively or at least not in a way that puts the kids through more trauma.
It was only $20 anyway.

Why would an adult not have a bank account?
I've got a couple guesses.
Most of the transactions take place with cash...

How would we know when they withdraw the GFM donations?

They would have to stop the fundraiser first.

Go fund me just issued me a refund and asked why I wanted one as the account had been reported.
I refered them to the ramblings of the druggie sister in law.

I don't think we have agreed with things in this post, but I do want to say you are a good person with your support in this saga. Its been a rough year for everyone and I admire your positivity itt, even with my negarivity. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas. I think its good to call people out for their kindness and that's what I'm doing.
In regards to OP, I am sorry for the loss of his wife, I never remember OP being like this and however much I feel its a scam, I hope its not. The stuff I've seen, in addition to his and family posts, make it hard to know what is really going on. I will say I have enjoyed the drama, but hope OP gets help. I hope it's not OP scamming using multiple accounts because that would be weird, it wouldn't be surprising with some of the interactions I've had on here. There are weird ppl and genuinely good ppl.

This thread sure did deliver. Love how concerned they are about getting the money once people called them out on their trashy bullshite. The trashy sister in law or whoever saying “we owe them an apology” might be my favorite.

Has GFM ever closed a fundraiser on suspicion?

No banks in Methlehem.

I'm a little surprised this thread lives on.

Got my refund so I'm happy.
Went from $22k to $19k, so still a substantial amount of money raised in a short period of time.

This is crazy. Why would an adult not have a bank account?
How would you have a two story house w/o a bank account. Of course its crazy.

Unless his wife had one that he wasn't able to access.

They do it all the time. I just don't know if this would qualify because it does involve a family member's death and nowhere did David/Eric say he was going to use the money for illegal activity.
While we can deduce that there's a decent chance it does considering he is on a bender, I kinda doubt GFM will cancel it just because we say that.
If the funds are currently frozen (no idea if they are), I imagine it is just temporarily to allow for the refund processing.
I wonder what happens if you request a refund once the money has been released. GFM able to charge it back out of the account they deposited it into?

There are plenty of camelback houses in New Orleans that look like crack houses
