BR needs a loop way more than Lafayette does. Wtf? Who is approving funds for this?

Could be a good alternative to the completion of 49 to West Bank Expressway that will never get done.

First, you need to do a study...

By pass what?
The 8000 lights that exist as you traverse Lafayette from north to south. It'll give commercial traffic, mostly oilfield related, an opportunity to avoid driving through town to hit 90 south to head down da bayou.

It takes half an hour alone sometimes to get from youngsville to 1-10 alone because of the riduclous traffic, lights, etc. This is beyond due. However, BR is in much greater need of a loop. I was driving through the other day and there are tons of potholes on the interstate I-10 E right around college dr. BR really needs this more than Lafayette right now.

35 minutes from Maurice to Broussard for me. 13 mile drive

The problem with a BR loop is you will need another bridge. This is a 4 lane HWY. It's much cheaper and easier to build.
Also, just because BR needs a loop doesn't mean Lafayette shouldn't build one. BR will NEVER get one approved due to NIMBYs, the BR metro council, the state of La, etc. the law suits will take forever. This proposed loop could actually be built this century.

Why would the Lafayette Metropolitan Expressway Commission build Baton Rouge a loop?

Looks like Clay Higgins is doing work for his constituents.

Let's make this happen so my property value can jump a little.

Where are you located? Would the loop make value go up or down?

I'm not sure I'll be alive to see them finish Verot. They have started repairing it and it hasn't even been finished.

looks like one of these would adopt the south city parkway loop that is supposed to be built.

1 and 5 seem to make the most sense, ergo, it will be 2 and 3.
If Lafayette wants to get this done at all, they need to try and keep the whole thing in Lafayette Parish.
Main reason BR does not have a loop is because any design is tied to at least 3 other parishes (Livingston, Ascension and Iberville (southern loop)).

Just make the loop connect to 90 as close to Parish Brewing as possible. Thanks.

I thought ambassador Caffrey was the loop
Yeah, we completed (and cleared/had approved) an Environmental Assessment of Ambassador Caffery Parkway North for LADOTD in 2012. The final alignment was very similar to one of the northerly routes:

Went further north (to LA 182/I-49 Interchange) and connected with Ambassador Caffery Interchange at I-10.

Those loop paths would do two things.
1) Open up areas to economic development
2) Serve as a bypass for traffic headed to/from Houma area
How much of the current traffic on the surface streets / Hwy 90 is traffic just passing through going from Houston / Southwest LA / Central/North LA, to the Houma / bayou area?

During his campaign he said he would get a new I10 bridge for LC. Now it looks like our best path forward is making it a toll bridge because the govt hasn't done shite.
