Cozart? He's usually the least alarmist of the meteorologist in Laffy.

Yeah Cozart usually is pretty reserve with forecast. It always feels like Mardi Gras is miserable cold weather. I’m hoping this year with it in March it’ll be nice and warm.

Accuweather is currently telling me high of 72, low of 60, 65% chance of rain, 38% of thunderstorms, and 48 MPH gusts for Mardi Gras Tuesday in Iota.

While I hate cold weather, think I’d rather a calmer icy/sleet day for the Tee Mamou Mardi Gras than pouring rain with 40+ MPH winds.

Horace Trahan better bring that fiya!

Well that's pretty damn irresponsible. There were fleeting hints of some shite on the GFS a few days ago, and the even the small chance seems to have disappeared.

Ye ole weather crystal ball.

I can remember 2014 it got cold mid January and then warmed up and then Mardi Gras was in March and it was cold and wet.

Check back in 2 hours, it will be the complete opposite. Have never seen a more garbage weather site than Accuweather.

My favorite was when they came out with 45 and 90 day forecasts.

Some days I don’t know what I want for lunch, but a mystical computer model is going to tell me that it is going to rain 60 days out.

Well my KATC app won’t show as far out as Mardi Gras day, so that’s what I’m having to plan with right now. Hopefully Accuweather is completely wrong and it’s a beautiful day.

Wouldn't it be quicker to google yourself instead of starting a thread?

Aren't you the one stating that a meteorologist says "icy" conditions? You provide the link because obviously you saw it, heard it, etc!

That makes sense..

He's struttin after his blizzard prediction came thru

(even though a few days earlier he said the risk of arctic weather was minimal)

I love weather but these two Lafayette guys are constantly racing each other to make a wild prediction hoping they can I-told-a-so

I’ve actually seen the FB meteorologists hinting at another Arctic blast for Mardi Gras, some were even talking about snow for some parts of the south.

The same ones who forecast a major arctic blast for Feb 6th that never came close?

Lots of overhype on FB about anything and everything

oddly enough, in my lifetime, i can remember more cold Mardi Gras's than I do cold Christmases That's not odd at all considering Christmas happens only 3-4 days into Winter, whereas Mardi Gras generally happens right in the middle of Winter. Winter is from December 21-22 until March 21-22 the following year. Mardi Gras can be as early as February 3 - the exact middle of Winter, or as late as March 9 - still two weeks away from Spring.

Oddly enough, peak winter is always a few weeks after the start of winter as the days start to get longer.

Still the craziest snow in SELA time wise was in 2017 when it snowed a few days before winter even started, of course now this year’s snow will overshadow any other future snow event due the length of the snow and how much fell.

Also in 1993, there was a superstorm in mid March that brought temperatures hurricane force winds, storm surge in the Big Bend of Florida, snow in the south. I can remember it got so cold my trashy above ground pool iced over.
