Most of the staff is likely in line with this. Service industry is a big echo chamber of liberals.

Way more conservative in some of those places

Keyword in that stat is "Cities". The Lafayette metro qualifies it as a city. Yes Baskin and Dry Prong are near 100% conservative, but Grant and Winn Parish combine for less people than Lafayette proper.

I live in Laffy. There is definitely a growing number of young progressive liberals here. Just jump on r/acadiana. But overall Lafayette is still a conservative stronghold.

It is one thing to be young and liberal but once you are over the age of 27/30 and remain a liberal then you have issues. Granted that you're not a government/state employee.

I've heard it said that if you are young and not a liberal, you don't have a heart. But when you get older if you aren't a conservative, you don't have a brain.

Most young people today will be, there is overwhelming indoctrination.

The will not learn until they are personally heavily impacted by their own policies.

No, they're not. They're employees that are still willing to work in the service industry.

I guess they could all find WFH jobs so that this board can bitch about nobody wanting to work anymore when they can't get table service at a restaurant.

Academia/Government workers and service industry workers probably make up about 80%+ of registered Democrats (there's a few surveys that confirm this). That's why liberals tend be illiterate on things like economics, finance, and mechanics (case in point: liberals blaming refiners for high gas prices caused by their monetary policies and the fact they tried shutting them down just a year ago).

Solid argument

Vestal is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the city.

Also, the owner of The Wurst is a loon.

There has always been that contingent with the hospitality and service industry in the area on top of the college and government employees. There is a growing number with some other industries moving in as well as a growing portion of suburban moms/wives wanting their social media cred for being progressive.

Reddit as a whole is progressive and openly so. While the majority of the takes on a lot of issues are wholly progressive an without much reason other than wyt man bad rawr, I do quite enjoy some hidden finds when the topic turns to hidden food spots or best ___ spots on there.

As long as oil, ag, and financing for oil and ag are kings in the immediate area this will hold true. It will most likely get a purple hue due to the shift in general to more progressive views in metros large and small over the next decade or two, but it still has a long way to go before it becomes the bastions of Southern Progressive Policies that the metros down I-10 East have become.

Carey is actually a dude…I commented on his Facebook post yesterday and he blocked me!! I’ve see him there all the time but I didn’t know he was one of the owners. He was always working on something. I do know he pieced together another bar in the back, a large deck and a music stage….it took them a year to do it and when they were finished, the city made him tear everything out because they didn’t file for a permit!!
