I live in a neighborhood where people drive golf carts around all the time. Back in 2021 a woman fell out of a cart on the way home from the community clubhouse and was killed. The husband got hit with a bunch of charges including a DWI. There's at least an accident a month involving a golf cart here.
People aren't careful at all in those things and treat them like toys.

I think he ended up cutting a deal and pleading guilty to misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

Same ordeal in my parents' neighborhood. There have been numerous instances of parents letting kids drive the carts around and the kids tip the cart over or hit a car.

Same. That said, most all of the issues that make their way to the cesspool that is the neighborhood Facebook page (fascinating to follow though) almost always involve kids/teenagers on the carts, not the adults.
The only stupid/drunk thing I've seen an adult do was when some dud mistook a large runoff drain for an exit out of the clubhouse parking lot. Car was stuck for everyone to see as they drove out the next morning.
