LINK Wild Rose kennels. Oxford, Dallas and South Carolina locations. Glad others have had similar results. Smartest dog I've ever had and with zero training.

2nd Huntfield. I have a 3 year old female - she’s an awesome dog - hates thunder though.
Very smart and trainable - plus she’s little - under 50lbs and super atheletic. Great all around dog

Got my boy from Ace's Retrievers in Kiln, MS. 2 1/2 years ago, and he has been the best dog I have ever owned. He's legit my best friend.

Twin Ponds in Tennessee. Our 13 year old white “polar bear” English lab from there is still doing pretty damn well and thinks age is just a number.

I got my last one from Huntfield Labs out of Mississippi. They only do British Labs. I just use mine as a house dog, but she is a wonderful dog and great with kids.

A little late, but my parents are getting an English Labrador in the next day or two. They got one from:
Texas Faith Breeders
Adorablelabradors.com
I know nothing about them, just who my folks are getting one from.

I can’t say enough about Mike Stewart and Wild Rose in Oxford. They’re not English, but British. They’re hunting stock, but make the best family dogs. Just a great line of dogs that are easy going and so easily trained. Can’t go wrong. Phenomenal animals.
ETA…….went back and read after posting and saw the suggestion has already been made multiple times. I’m not saying there aren’t great labs everywhere…..I’ve owned some a know that, but Wild Rose blew me away with their attention to bloodlines and what these dogs were meant to be. Their commitment to not only hunting dogs, but also adventure dogs and assistance animals is impressive. The British dogs are excellent and Mike is truly dedicated to breeding and a training method that is top notch.

No shortage of breeders, is there?
Posted on 5/21/26 at 8:26 am to Tigerpaw123
Generally an “English” lab is bred more for show. They are more “boxy”, short wide heads, broader chests. “British” are bred for field. Usually more slender and longer heads. Slighter built.
I’ve heard the two terms used interchangeably, but they are two different things.

Labs may be the most overrated dog to have as a pet*.
*Disclaimer* ‘pet’ not working dog.

Another terrible take from this guy

Most of the aforementioned places all selling highly tuned athletic machines. If you want just a pet I highly suggest finding a local breeder with papers on the dog. Otherwise you will get a high strung hunting dog that will tear all your shite up and be a menace ! You can still get lucky and get a great one but these dogs are bred and want to work.

This right here…….terrible terrible advice.
British dogs are bred for their train ability and even temperament. They are generally very calm and make excellent family pets. They hyper high energy dogs you’re speaking of are usually American dogs (not that there aren’t well bred American dogs) that have been bred with “go fast, hunt hard” in mind. They are two very different versions and should be thought of as two different breeds. They are very different.

My once in a lifetime dog came from Gatorpoint. She was perfect. She was out of hunt test lines. My current dog is a NFC Grady x QAA. Shes a tough one to handle. Shes a little twitchy inside the house about certain things, but in the outdoors she’s the best. I liken her more to a border collie than a lab. She shuts off eventually but just wants to work.
My friend has two bench bred show labs. They are high bred, beautiful animals that get a lot of attention in public, but they are horrible to live with. Messy, bull in a china shop types, that are good for nothing in the field. Complete assholes.
My neighbor has a Walmart parking lot Golden Retriever that is a top tier animal. Can’t retrieve, sheds, not the best structure. I’d take 3 of her.
The only advice I have is be honest with yourself about what works best for you situation.
