I wish we could pitch the idea of getting black people into Something cool without them not being into it being White people’s fault.

I went to Rocky Mountain NP this summer. Mostly day hiking. We rented cabin near the park but camped out in the park one night. We saw a larger percentage of black folks than usual, but still less than 10%.
It’s a totally unremarkable consideration. People will choose to camp or hike in the National Parks based on their desire to go. Nothing is stopping them. There is no need to encourage diversity.
If there is ever an example of the stupidity of Diversity As being Good In and Of Itself, this is it.

Are these people expecting campers to go in other neighborhoods and pick up some blacks, indians, latinos, or asians and bring them camping with them. It seems that the asians are the most discriminated group along with the indians. Is this how we remove camping racism? They must consider all of the camping many latinos did prior to entering this country. They may not want to do any more camping, since some of them camped for months on they way here.
They want us to fly the BLM flag, kneel for the US flag, and now we have to pick up strangers and take them camping. I'm confused. What will they scream for next?

I dated a black chick for a long time and she was a trooper. I'd trust her to setup a camp more than many of my guy friends.

I spent 8 nights in Glacier backcountry with no tent. just a thermarest and two lightweight tarps w treking poles to make lean to if I needed it.
I got most stuff out of the bargain bin. Old sleeping bag. At the time, I had a $55 old pack. The only semi- expensive things I had were a jet boil and nice water filter.
Camping is cheap as shite. If black people want to camp, then they can freaking camp. I'll donate or lend all sorts of shite it helps.
