I think that's really funny. Good for them firing shots. We're going to light them up.

Damning themselves with faint praise. Maybe they aren't as smart as they think they are.

You go to Tech for aviation. LSU for anything else.

Don’t think Tech is a better academic school than LSU but they may beat them in football tomorrow night. Have a strange feeling that an upset is coming.

The freshman level STEM classes at LSU are absolute dogshit. Better to take them at a smaller university and transfer.

They are set up for failure, 500 students to one professor in an auditorium with one professor to learn chemistry, physics, etc. or even better your calculus teacher that can't speak a word of English besides "NO" and "Bad".

It's cool. All those nerds from LA Tech has to work for some project manager from LSU. We all know how he got the job... but he got the job.

It's not a better education than LSU but we definitely see it as a better value. All around it's much cheaper than LSU, from food plans and tuition to books and fees.
I knew a guy that went to Tech because he could take off one whole quarter to hunt deer.

For decades the best and brightest have hauled arse out of Louisiana

Complete and utter bullshite.

LSU is designated as an R1 university, meaning it is classified among "Doctoral Universities – Very high research spending and doctorate production" in the Carnegie Classification system as of 2025.

R1 is the highest tier in the Carnegie Classification, recognizing institutions for exceptional levels of research activity, research spending, and doctorate production.

As of 2025, LSU’s main campus retained its R1 status with $384 million in annual research expenditures and 299 research doctorates conferred.

LSU is the flagship public research university for Louisiana, with strong support for research and graduate education across many disciplines.

It operates hundreds of sponsored research projects, has earned distinction as a land-, sea-, and space-grant institution, and invests in major multidisciplinary research centers.

LSU ranks in the top 3% of U.S. research institutions and serves policymakers, funders, and researchers nationwide.

So STFU.

People go to public universities for academic prestige?
Some of them--UNC, UVA, Cal, UCLA (several other UC system campuses), GA Tech, Michigan, Texas, a few others.

LA Tech may have better undergraduate outcomes in some (even many) areas. But LSU's academic mission goes far beyond that. There's a big difference in what the two schools actually focus on. Tech's is much narrower, or aspirational at best, which allows them to be better (in some ways) at the things they do focus on.

This explains so much. If it wasn’t for transient population due Ochsner LSU Shreveport and Barksdale there wouldn’t be enough brain cells from the locals in that God forsaken shite hole to fill a shot glass.

Since when? Give me an LSU grad every day if I'm hiring. All of my tech grads have been weirdos.

I've never worked with a Tech grad (engineering) that wasn't at least useful to some degree. I've met a few LSU grads that I'm shocked passed the PE or are still trying to pass.

Tech's advantage for undergraduate engineering is the class size. A professor (not grad assistant) working with 15 kids in a class is not uncommon.
