Selling stamps either stolen or not sounds pretty awful.

Are there no checks and balances in the Post office?
Well they caught him and are prosecuting him so there’s that.

Read the article. The guy was selling stamps in bulk for below face value to commercial clients on EBay. There is NO WAY those companies shouldn’t have to refund the government. They damn well knew something was up. It’s not like buying merchandise that can be discounted for a variety of reasons. Stamps are a negotiable instrument like currency. If a dude was selling $100 bills for $75 you would know something was wrong.
ETA: His behavior was blatant enough that PayPal suspended his account. It has to be pretty damn obvious for that to happen.

Slinging stamps and fire sticks baby

Wouldn’t that make them a non-negotiable instrument?

Really? Seriously? Someone getting a good deal on fricking stamps should be prosecuted?

Imagine how much of this that goes on that doesnt get caught. Government agencies hemorrhage our tax dollars.

You were just given a perfect example.
You don't think someone purchasing "clean, crisp, $100 bills" on eBay, for $10 paypal each, should be treated similar to someone knowingly buying stolen merchandise? They probably think they are "just getting a good deal" on $100 bills?

Or they thought a business or person bought way too many stamps for themselves and was trying to get something for them instead of just letting them go to waste.

From reading the article it wasn't the post office that caught him. It was Paypal and Ebay alerting them after he had been doing it for many years that caught him.
If Paypal or Ebay hadn't reported it the post office would still have no idea to investigate.

Stamps don't expire. They are like cash.

The worst part about this is that somebody who works at a local post office branch can have a $70k annual salary on top of insane government benefits.
That’s enough of a crime right there.

If you are jealous of the guys salary and benefits you are welcome to get a post office job yourself.
