Folks who hoped to watch the Krewe of BOO! Halloween parade on Canal Street in New Orleans on Saturday night must find another viewing spot, because that portion of the route has been lopped off. A City Hall spokesperson said Friday afternoon the parade was shortened because of a lack of available police officers.

If this parade is too much for NOPD to handle, how in the ever loving frick would they be able to handle Mardi Gras? Throw in all of the extra Covid monitoring Toya wants to include, and I just don’t see it happening. She’s found a way to finally destroy one of the most respected police forces in the country when it comes to large crowds and big events.

There are only 3 options:

1. Cancel Mardi Gras
2. Hire outside help for security
3. Complete and total chaos.

They have no money so option 2 is out and I don’t think they can afford to cancel Mardi Gras again because if they do much of it may never come back.

If they go forward with Mardi Gras on a shortened route packing everyone and every Krewe into a small corridor with limited police it’s going to be insane.

Some idiot will start something and it’ll snowball into a full scale riot. As in widespread shootings, property destruction, and the nail in the coffin for the city.

It’s hurting more white people so this is allowed.

SWLA is in the same predicament for Mardi Gras. As of right now, due to a shortage of law enforcement, Mardi Gras parades will most likely be shortened.

Destroya is pissing her pants in excitement. What an ugly fricking scumbag she is.

I pretty much agree with whoever posted this, but either it'll be cancelled or it'll be a fricking disaster in 2022. One of the two.

Of all the reasons New Orleans residents should have been outraged over the past few decades, shortening a parade route is the straw that broke the camel’s back. The same cop shortage has led to many other issues in the city without much hubbub but a shorter parade and possibly requiring other krewes to change their routes is a bridge too far!!!

I don’t think anyone really gives a shite about shortening a Halloween parade. It’s what it means in terms of what will probably end up happening with Mardi Gras. And personally, I couldn’t give a shite about Mardi Gras because I go out of town to get away from it, but I do care about how it impacts the city and it’s private businesses financially.

they are already talking about having just using the Uptown route for all the parades....which is fine by me

a condensed MG is better than no MG at all
