Are the abandoned ones near yall being redeveloped or are they sitting?
The empty one by me is about to be redeveloped into a grocery store.
Another one I know of was turned into a PetsMart shopping center.
The one closest to where I grew up sat empty forever and now the land has been bought and developed into a healthcare center for one of the local hospitals (Nortons).
There was one out on the other side of the county that was turned into a shitty flea market. I think eventually they tore it down, but not sure.

I wonder what his pick-up line was.
Unfortunately we never got the full story on their meeting before he passed away. Just like we never got the full story on why she divorced him or why Kmart eventually fired him.
Before working at Kmart though, my uncle was fired from a hospital security position because he got busted banging night-shift nurses in empty patient rooms. So I can only imagine what Kmart caught him doing.

Best use for an empty one ever ....
Bass Pro Shops bought the property and started manufacturing Bass Boats and RV's.

Haha yeah Solos! I bought a bunch of knock of shite clothing there. Good times. I went to Hannan behind the K mart in Meraux so we were often referred to as K mart high.
They had a little Sears too right there... I dated a girl that worked there when I was in high school. I went one afternoon to go pick her up and she wasn't quite done yet, so I just walked around for a few minutes randomly looking at stuff.
She ends her shift and we walk out and she's like WTF were you doing in there? I said just waiting. She's like well uhm security was watching you thinking you were going to steal something...

In the good old days the Kmart in my hometown had a very well stocked and impressive fishing supplies department. They even had a decent selection of salt water equipment and we're a bit over 2 hours from the beach. It's long gone now

Went to one in Key West in 2019 (I think). Looks like it’s now closed. There was another one on the way to Key West.

When did Lake Charles, Ryan street close down? Last time I saw it it was the only one I knew of that was still open.

I haven't been in one in about 10 years or so. I think I was in Natchez MS.
I would have sworn that store closed WAY before that. I mean, like 2000 or 2001. 2016 just doesn’t seem right.

My Mom and grandparents used to take me to the one in Savannah when I was little - back in the 70s/80. I loved that store because of the models and star wars stuff. Not sure when it left Savannah.

Ours is an adult bookstore now. Jokes on them though, I masturbated in the Kmart.

I don't know if they all had this but all I remember of a Kmart is going in with my mom as a very young kid and getting either a hot dog or popcorn with a cherry slushie to enjoy while my mom shopped.
I loved it.
Same memory here. Mom shopping while pushing the cart with me inside of it with my Icee.
Women be shopping...just not at Kmart anymore.

The one in Athens is still abandoned, has been for many years, but there's a Kroger to keep the strip anchored, so the whole strip didn't die. The vet school students use the Kmart parking lot instead of paying the parking permit fees because it is across the street.
The one that went out of business in my home town of Kennesaw is now a Floor and Decor showroom.

Sears is such an interesting situation.
Eventually put out of business by the same business model they invented a hundred years prior.
