4 pages in and no mention of the locations of the 3 surviving stores?

ETA: Kmarts continue to operate in Westwood, New Jersey; Bridgehampton, on New York’s Long Island, and Miami.

Kmart's demise was when they folded to the libs and quit selling ammunition.

Kind of. My mom remarried and moved there but my dad stayed in NOLA so spent time back and forth. All my siblings were raised there though and I went to school there starting in 7th grade.

In the 90's you could get these at the concession stand. One of those and a Coke Icee were great.

That's what I was thinking too. I read the thread looking for the go woke go broke phrase and didn't see it so maybe I was wrong. Then I saw your post and kinda remembered that. They were like one of the first to ever cave to a narrative like that weren't they?

My little brother and I grew up in Buccaneer Villa and would take our allowance every week to buy a new gi joe. We would go to that Kmart and then check out Walmarts offering at the other end of the shopping center. Whoever had the coolest one got our business that week.

That is just nuts. 2000+ stores now down to 3. That takes some pretty terrible leadership to pull that feat off. I have some good memories at Kmart as a kid.

Now do Sears, JC Penney........

I miss service merchandise too. Nothing like watching your new toy come down that conveyor belt.

So, when was the last time any of you shopped at a K-Mart? It was 2014 in North Charleston, SC for me while on a Navy Reserve weekend drill there.
