Agree. If true, I respect the guy. He was willing to take the punishment for justice.

He said "They took my wife and daughter from me"?
Who's they?
Is there more involved than the judge or is that a local colloquialism used as a singular as well?

Maybe the judges pronouns were They/Them

There’s a window to be a normal senior and be 18 years old depending on the jurisdiction, but that usually falls in Spring semester and not 1 month into the new school year. However, the daughter in question did have tattoos so she very well may have reached 18 already unless the parents signed off on it.
That said, a high school girl is, and will always be, held in the same light as a minor.

You typically don't see kids who entered kindergarten at regular school age turn 18 until the spring semester. Unless she was held back or entered school later, its much more likely she's 17 right now instead of 18.

Well, this certainly sounds like what is being reported. He had a relationship with the underage daughter and the Sheriff decided to end it.
I'm with the Sheriff. I doubt he cares that he will go to jail for the rest of his life. I wouldn't if I ended the threat.

The sheriff's wife's Facebook page indicates they have 5 or 6 grandchildren. Could be he and/or the wife were previously married with older kids. In December '23, the wife wished a sweet sixteenth birthday to "our beautiful bonus daughter" who has the last name of Stines. First name is the not the name of the daughter mentioned in this thread with the tattoo.

I wouldn't go that far, but there's only a small percentage of seniors who are 18 in September of their senior year (without being held back). The cutoff birthdate date is typically sometime in September. I think for the school application that I just completed my daughter had to be 4 prior to September 30th of next school year (for Pre-K 4). There are plenty of people with birthdays in October, November, and December who turn 18 in those months during their senior year.

I guess it depends on when she started this affair or whatever it was with the judge. If she's just starting her senior year, the question is if and when she turned 18 and when did the relationship begin.

What if the judge was actually the father of sheriff's "daughter"? That would explain "they took my wife and daughter from me."

The cut off varies by state. Some have July dates and others October.

Eric Clapton may need to write an update song for this one.

The cutoff here in Kentucky has typically been August.

Somewhere this morning, I read that the sheriff and judge were married to sisters.
Is this true?
The answer could make things a lot more sordid.
edit: i was wrong, the prosecutor and the judge married sisters
That's from the Daily Mail LINK

Someone defended the judge in a comment and this chick let her have it.
FYI Kentucky DOES have an age difference law that states 16-17 yr olds can't be frickin someone >=10 years older than they are unless married. Louisiana doesn't have that clause.

That would be interesting. I saw a blurb that they were close and had eaten lunch together with other court employees hours before this occurred.
I went back to the sheriff's wife's FB page, but she has since taken it down.

I thought LA did have that clause, but I’ll defer to your experience on this issue.
Oof that doesn’t read like I meant it srry.
