So what exactly did Kappa Sig do? There are only veiled references to drug use.

Rat in this year's pc

If this is true then I'm very surprised that the only punishment is expulsion of a select few members.

There has to be more to the story. Who would get their panties in a wad over Sigs smoking weed?

No joke, though, people did get booted with the quickness when they were caught with drugs at the house. There were no exceptions when I was in school.

This was still the case when I was there. Big no-no to smoke in the house. We did reach a point where people started rebelling and doing it and it became a top priority for internal chapter leadership to get it to stop. This was mid 2000's. But college kids smoking pot, whether you are Greek or not, is just common.

The bottom line is that there is a concerted effort to either get rid of Greek organizations, or turn them into nothing more than a dorm room. Total PC, everyone's invited, no risk, etc.. It's time for Greek organizations to find a way to not be affiliated with the school or nationals. What's it even worth anymore?

Beat me to it. Too much risk management liability blah blah. Your better off getting a keg and a bag every weekend with your buddies than this shite today. And all the nationals are slowly getting behind it.
I have close to zero in common with the personality of the kids that are in my chapter these days. Feels like Boy Scouts. They'd have done an exerrcisum for me and I was pretty tame by the standard of my time. And I had zero taste for weed.

To me there needs to be a time in your semi-adult life where you can get a pass sewing some oats. Frat days were part of that for me. I know so many people that didn't chase that in school, married the only person they dated in college, middle aged, and trying to pathetically do it now.

Sororities had their 10% quota of artsy bohemian chicks

You say that like its a bad thing. I always had a thing for the handful of sorority girls who would go against the grain a little bit. They tended to be a little more fun than the ones looking over their shoulder, worried about what people think about their behavior. Not smelly hippies with dreads, but the kind of chicks that were down for a Phish show kinda sorority girl.

Don't get me wrong, I'm cool with it. It's interesting to reconnect on social media and see how many ex sorority girls are doing things like running an art collective in San Francisco, etc. Sororities seemed to be a lot less monolothic than fraternities. Maybe because they tended to be a lot bigger.

Also interesting to see how many Greeks ended up marrying non Greeks and vice versa. The college divisions fall away pretty swiftly after graduation.

The Kappa Sigs in the 80's and 90's didn't play any games though.

That was back when it actually meant something to be a Kappa Sig. The only thing it means to me now is that I have some close friendships from guys that were in my chapter, that I don't pay for btw.

They would kick football players out of their parties. Which is fine, their party their rules. So football players started our own bar called Old Rips. It got popular. The bouncers were our big lineman. Bouncers wouldnt let any frat guys through, which technically they were supposed to because most of the frat guys werent 21. They would steal their fake IDs. The frat guys would melt and it was hilarious. Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot.

Sounds like the Socs and the Greasers.

The "billionaire boys" had nothing to do with it, but some of the early re-colonists did... along with Angela Guillory.

I hear that he is (unwittingly) the source of much of the problems.

Let's put it this way, i think there were a lot of guys in the early recolonization years, '01-03-ish, who would not have received bids prior to the Death Penalty circa '96. That said, i think the frat started its decline when hazing was all but eliminated after the pledge class of '87.
