Cops claimed they wanted to arrest the McMichaels that day. Ut were told by the DA, who was Sr’s former boss, that she wouldn’t pursue the case.

This rabbit hole is probably deep af. If I remember correctly, it took 2 DA changes before anything actually happened, right?

3 actually. shite it might have even been 4. I think 3 were initially involved and they finally got charged when gbi stepped in and a special prosecutor from Atlanta got assigned.

I’ve got some connections in the area and I’ll just say none of them were surprised by the multiple local DAs’ actions in this case. Sad.

Unless some evidence comes out in trial that says contrary. I think this will be a fairly easy guilty verdict for murder. I hope the former cop's buddies in the department and DA officewho helped sweep this thing under the rug get thoroughly investigated. They sat on this video for months. Nothing happened at all until the video got leaked to the public.

These 3 deserve everything they get which is likely a murder charge. How moronic do you have to be to block the road with a shotgun and try to detain someone?

It would be nice if there was at least some honesty that he wasn’t out for a jog and had a history of trespassing in the area. That’s no justification for anything that happened, but we don’t have to lie to make him a saint.

I don’t agree with hate crimes and they are stupid laws just like laws against “hate” speech.

But those guys were completely in the wrong and deserve what’s coming.

Charge people with the actual crime, not the “feeling” they had when they did it.

You don't understand the reasons for finding something to be a "hate crime".

It's two-fold:

1- It is an aggravating factor in the act of the murder which allows the State to seek the death penalty. And by labeling it as a kidnapping or attempted kidnapping, that gives the State two aggravating factors to use for seeking the death penalty if they choose to pursue it.

2 - If they somehow manage to be acquitted of the State crimes, or manage to get a "light" sentence, then the Federal Government can prosecute them and try to get them sentenced, which will probably happen anyway, because rarely do State and Federal sentences run concurrently. So if they manage to get paroled or make a deal for 10 years, they would immediately be taken into federal custody to serve their sentence there.

These two are screwed either way.

He's either never stolen copper, or never worked on construction sites.

Abandoned buildings and houses are a better target for that.

How? By fleeing when no crime had been clearly committed?

I've said all along these dudes will go to jail for a long time.

Im just tired of the bs he was out flr a jog and was admiring the carpentry. This dude was a thief. He ran from the house when the cops were called on him.

The other idiots shouldn't chase him because they have no rt to do a citizens arrest at that point.

A handful of idiots ruined their lives that day.

Please tell me you’re not arguing because he yelled directly after he shot him it’s not racist because he didn’t yell it during the blast?

No - I’m not arguing that. I’m wondering why these guys are being charged with a hate crime and there are so many cases that haven’t been (although Georgia’s hate crime law is pretty new)

I don’t know if the shooter and his associates were racist - are they being slapped with a hate crime bc of something they said or because of their color of skin. Did the shooter intend to kill Arbery bc he was black? What all three of those men did was wrong - and Arbery shouldn’t have been shot - but is the hate crime charge just a symbol?

The guy that shot up the Asian massage parlors said his killings were not racially motivated - he said he had a sex addiction.

If it were the same guy that they had spotted multiple times before and called 911 on? And didn't they even call 911 that day?

It's been almost a year, But I seem to remember they had the door cam that showed the neighbor across the street walking down his driveway with a phone up to the ear and you can see Aubrey go on full sprint down the street
