So did you actually watch it go down or did your boss just tell you? First thing on a Monday sounds to me like shite went down last week or over the weekend that required him to be terminated.

It's one thing if it doesn't interfere with anyone else's work. But if multiple people have to work together, it's certainly not ideal to have someone work at a different pace. I had a guy that I worked with who was extremely dedicated to the job. Wasn't slow at all or anything. He'd pull all nighters to get things done. But then he'd show up at 10 a.m.. Put in more hours than anyone, but did them when he wanted to. It was a problem. It didn't jive with what everyone else did. Before he could move up, he had to change his ways.

Any further details you can get as to why he was let go would be appreciated. Further it would end some of this speculation.
Just guessing is that the company was looking to thin out its indirect labor costs. Maybe more cuts coming in other departments.

we are a small company owned by a fortune 500 company. we sell executive office furniture. specialize in our veneer.
we are not doing cuts right now, and someone will absolutely be brought on, or promoted to take his spot.

yeah thats how I felt too... He thanked his boss for everything he has done for him. Definitely took it way better than I would have like I said

I'll show up at 8:30 and then be one of the last cars to leave the building. And, when you don't know how to do an INDEX(MATCH()) or a SUMIFS() for that report you are building, then you can **** off.

im the first one in the office, usually around 645 and im 26. some engineers get here at 630 but rarely. most of the people here 10-15+ years get in at 830-9. id much rather be here early when its quiet and bang out my work then have the afternoon to bullshite around, unless its just a crazy busy day.
