Not all salary jobs are paid only based on 40 hours. Some get straight time and others can get time and a half

This just goes to show you that it doesn't matter how hard you work or how loyal you are. Look out for yourself in your work life and don't take crap from anyone.

Salary, so not paying any overtime.

There's probably more to the story than you know or that the higher ups will allow you to know. Most companies don't fire people who are getting the job done just for being kind of slow, if he was detailed oriented and he was getting everything right on the first time, most employers would appreciate it.....maybe he was too slow and lost whatever passion.....or management saw an opportunity to save some money.

Guy has a tough road ahead of him. In today's climate, if you are over 45 and get fired/laid off, most companies won't talk to you....they want someone young who will do it all for less

I'm sure they told him that it was nothing personal....it's just business.....believe me , for him it was probably VERY personal

just sometimes worked 12 hr days to do it while others in his department only takes them 9 hours a day.

I think I found the problem.

Somewhat the point.... Nonetheless, the majority of corporate America struggles with this level of Excel work.

Why don't you ask your boss why he was fired? Seems like that should be something that the office is informed about in some manner as in "inability to complete workload", "non performance based issue", "personal matter", etc.

I mean you shouldn't just leave the rest of the company hanging when you fire a long term staff member like that this is liked. Its bad for moral, the last thing you want is your whole company worried about their jobs.

I watched it going on through the glass in the office. I didn’t stand there and watch the whole thing but saw it going down when I went to grab something from the printer then walked to the trash can.

Probably because it's none of his fricking business? And, in the event that there is a lawsuit the boss going around telling everyone why the guy was fired just might not be a good idea.
